Important Information for You!
Parent-Teacher Conference Follow-up
Congratulations on two amazing days of conferences! I hope that you all enjoyed your time meeting with parents and discussing their child's progress. I had the chance to visit with parents as they visited the building and I heard nothing but positives from them! Again, I was so very proud of our staff.
Be sure to follow up with any parents that missed appointments. If you end up making up a conference either in person or via the phone, please let the office know so we can update your conference totals and percentages. Any remaining report cards should be sent home on Monday, but these need to include written comments, so Anna will need to reprint before they are sent home. The only exception to this is if the parents have rescheduled and will be coming in, then you can save the report card for that meeting.
World Kindness Day-Monday, November 13th
The goal is that that every student, parapro, playground monitor, teacher, administrator, secretary, custodian, and support staff take a moment to share a kind word with someone else in the form of a Cardinal Compliment! Last week Cardinal Compliment cards were put in every mailbox. If you would like to write more than one 'kindness card' and need additional cards, we have them the office. This will also be a Spirit Day (not jean day, that is Thursday), so wear your Davison colors!
As I shared, teachers could plan this as writing for the day as this is an authentic type of writing. Take a moment to generate a list of people in a child’s life who they would like to say something nice to...bus driver, teacher, parent, grandparent, friend, neighbor, etc. Then have the students fill out the Cardinal Compliment Card and give it or take it home to give to that person. Cardinal Compliments could be written or drawn, teachers should help ensure that the name on the Cardinal Compliment is clear.
It is always a great day to be kind!
Family Math Game Night
I am always very excited for Family Math Game Night as it is such a fun and positive event for our students and families. A huge thank you to Megan C., Emily, and Sara H. for planning the evening events. Megan will deliver the games/materials to the rooms after school Thursday. If anyone is able to help with set-up please let her know. All certified staff should plan to be here from 4:45 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. Staff may wear their Thomson Staff t-shirts and jeans on Thursday.
Child Study
November and December Child Studies were planned only two weeks apart due to conferences and holidays. In thinking about the students in the building, interventions being put into place, looking at the 'review' students, and talking with some of you, we have decided to cancel the November 21st Child Study date. Our next Child Study date will be December 12th. Please send any names of students you'd like a Child Study on and the reason (academic and/or behavior) to Jason and myself by November 21st. Please remember that any child being brought to Child Study should have been discussed with your PLC team prior.
Cool to Care
Thank you to Sara Howes for contacting the NHS sponsor from DHS! Unless otherwise notified, NHS students will be here after high school dismissal on Mondays and Wednesdays to collect cans from your classroom and sort them for us. However, please remember to keep the running total in your classrooms.
'Office Hours' Focus on Connecting Word Study and Shared Reading
This Thursday's 'office hours' will focus on connecting Word Study to your Shared Reading. If you are interested in working on lesson plans for this, meet me in the lounge.
