2WORD Character Development
The following is a small piece of what the student-athletes are going to be hearing about from their coaches.
Have you ever wondered the difference between those people who are rushed by adversity and those who are catapulted by it? What makes some people fall apart when pain and adversity comes their way, while other people seem to be made stronger by it? Zig Ziglar said, “Tough times don’t last; tough people do.” Perhaps the single greatest characteristic of a “tough person” is their ability to transform their pain into “purposed pain.” When a person, 18 or 80, can point their pain in a positive direction they forge a strength that will allow them to be overcome any obstacle, achieve any goal, and become more than they ever imagined.

FALCON FOOTBALL
Week 1 of spring ball turned out to be truly exciting to watch as our boys competed against each other. Battling back and forth, feeling faster and stronger, they are playing with more confidence than ever before. Our focus in week 2 is to simply perfect the install from week 1 and add some new concepts and schemes this week.
With great pleasure I would like to announce the football leadership council for the 2018 season.

These student athletes will focus on leadership skills and team building concepts to enhance the football program. They will act as liaisons between the coaches and the players as well. I look forward to working with them on weekly basis.

FALCON SPORTS MEDICINE
· Our objective is prevention of athletic injuries, and safe return of our student athletes to competition in efforts to achieve team goals.
· On Saturday May 5, August Heart and Sports medicine Associates and Methodist Health Care Systems performed heart screenings and physical exams for over 1500 student athletes, hosted at Stevens Hs. The event was a huge success for athletes, parents, coaches and the NISD community.
· 2018-19 NISD Athletic Paperwork is being distributed to our athletes. Physicals for incoming 9th/11th graders who did not attend the physicals event on 5/5/18 are due to Falcon Sports Med by 5/25/18. Athletes who will be in grades 10 or 12 in fall of 2018 will be receiving Medical History forms this week.
· ALL athletes regardless of grade level can now perform online enrollment procedures for athletic participation on Rank One. This is a NISD requirement. Form can be found on Falcon Sports Med webpage.
