Principal's Message

We were so excited to celebrate our scholars with our second school-wide paycheck party with our “Going Wild” petting zoo. It was great to see scholars celebrated for their hard work all semester and making G.R.E.A.T. choices to focus and go all in during testing. The habits they develop now will help them continue on the path to setting goals and achieving them for college and beyond!

Principal Leadership Survey

Each year about this time we administer principal leadership surveys to gather specific feedback from grade band teams to inform actionable plans for continuous leadership development for principals. Below is the link for the K-2 Principal survey. Please complete this survey by 4 pm on December 20th; estimated time is about 15 minutes. I know we all have a million things going on this time of year; your time on this survey is very much appreciated in advance. When you finish the survey, take a screenshot of the page that says survey completed and turn it into your coach/direct manager as part of the semester 2 check out process.

Semester 1 Celebrations

This year will be our first year giving out Principal Awards for two scholars in each classroom per teacher/dean nomination. Please see the link here to sign up your scholars (one achievement and one behavior). An example is included for each award and this is due by 4pm Tuesday, Dec. 17th in order to prep all the materials. Don't forget that we are celebrating inclusivity this winter holiday season so be mindful of playing Christmas songs this week and rather play more ambiguous holiday songs like Jingle Bells vs Silent Night. Thanks for your support and if you have any questions please reach out!

Dean of Culture

We are still in the midst of testing season so let’s keep high expectations 100% of the time and work together to keep our hallways silent. Let's continue to focus on transitions. When scholars are walking in the hallways they must be silent, safe, and speedy. It is important that leaders, teachers, and scholars are following through on their end of the hallway transitions. We want to model these expectations to ensure a high-achieving professional testing environment.

Some things to remember:

  • All restrooms breaks are silent.
  • While scholars are waiting to use the restroom the expectation is they are waiting silently.
  • Scholars that are in the restroom are silently doing their business and moving quickly.
  • Hallway transition are silent 100% of the time.
  • H-A-L-L-S. (H)Your hands are at your side, (A) all eyes are tracking forward (L), legs and feet on the blue line, (L) lips are zipped, and (S) we are silent.

Dean of SEL

We have really been focusing on our Leader in Me curriculum during the last two weeks. I am using the Leader in Me books to help our scholars learn more about each habit, and how they can incorporate this knowledge academically and socially. During the upcoming week, we will be focusing on Put First Things First again by discussing the “big rocks” and “small rocks” regarding priorities.

LIM Habit: Put First Things First

Work first, play later

  • Do the important things (big rocks) before you focus on the little things (small rocks).
  • Prioritize your time so that you are able to accomplish your goals
