October 21, 2021

Dear Erickson Families,

I am looking forward to seeing families at the OUTDOOR Pumpkin Night TONIGHT between 5:30-7:30pm in the parent parking lot (you needed to pre-register to attend). Please dress warmly and bring a blanket to sit on to decorate your pumpkin and write your story.

Tomorrow is Early Dismissal. Students will be dismissed at 1:40 on Friday, October 22. Afternoon preschool and kindergarten will me at their normal times. All students should wear their Character Counts Pillar Shirts (or the color of their pillar) tomorrow. We will have our monthly Eagle's Nest tomorrow where students meet in small groups to participate in character building activities.

District 13 is changing to a new system for delivering messages to families. Future messages will be sent from a system called SwiftReach. Early next week please look for a welcome email from the new system. If the welcome email is received at the correct address, no action is required on your part. If you have not received the welcome email by Wednesday 10/27 please click the following link to notify us, and we will make sure you receive future messages: https://forms.gle/5ERKcYKtBRvv4NUQ7

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. The best way to reach me would be via email or phone: sjohnston@sd13.org or 630-529-2223.

Please enjoy the rest of your week!

Covid Update

Remote Learning Support: Should your child be COVID-19 positive or be a close contact to another person who has been identified as COVID-19 positive we would initiate remote learning services (2.5 hours for 1st-5th and 1.25 hours for Kindergarten) during the duration of the absence. The focus will be ELA and Math.

Siblings do not need to quarantine if a family member has symptoms: Siblings are now allowed to stay in school if family members have symptoms related to Covid, as long as the symptomatic individual is tested within 24 hours of onset of symptoms.

Covid Dashboard: Erickson will stop sending home the notification of COVID-19 positive cases as they arise. In many cases, this creates unnecessary anxiety for others. A dashboard has been placed on the Return to Learn website to document cases throughout the year and will be updated regularly to provide the most accurate information for the greater community. Click here to access the Covid Dashboard.

Character Counts Pillar Shirts

Every student at Erickson was given a Character Counts Pillar Shirt in 1st grade or when they entered Erickson as a new student. Students do not need this shirt, but are asked to wear their pillar color on Pillar Day (1x per month).

If you are interested in ordering another Pillar Shirt, please fill out this PILLAR SHIRT ORDER FORM and send $10 in a marked envelope "PILLAR SHIRT" with your child. A new Pillar Shirt will be delivered to your child once the money is received. Please fill out one form per child.

If you have questions, please email Mrs. Johnston: sjohnston@sd13.org

Volunteers to the Building

Those who are volunteering on a regular basis or directly working with students will need to show the building principal their vaccination card or a negative covid test, within three - five days prior to volunteering, per the Governor's Executive Order.

This only applies to individuals who volunteer on a regular basis. Parents or other adults who visit for an IEP or parent-teacher conference do not need to show a vaccination card or negative covid test. Please see the building principal if you have further questions or need clarification. Click here to view language from Executive Order 87 (Vaccination/Testing).
