SHSU Library Science Cohort
Become a School Library Media Specialist
One of the benefits of being part of a Cohort is that all of the participants can work through your program together. SHSU's program is completely online; and you will be able to work with other BISD teachers who are interested in becoming Library Media Specialists as well.
Currently we have one BISD campus without a Library Media Specialists and it is estimated that within the next 3 to 5 years there will probably be several more open positions.
Library Science (LS) Program includes coursework covering children’s and young adult literature, how to build and maintain a library collection of materials, managing a school library, how to build a school library’s virtual presence, collaborating with teachers and students to support information literacy, developing school library programming, and so much more!
Parents, Teachers, Administrators, and Students
Know the benefits of reading everyday. They look to school librarians who are able to match readers with the materials that they need, either for pleasure reading or learning and research. The school librarian has a very special opportunity to touch many lives through the services that are provided in the library. Are you interested in working in this capacity? Then, visit www.shsu.edu/libraryscience or call 936-294-1151 to learn more.
