Sturgeon Bay High School Newsletter
A Message From Principal Nerby
Hello SBHS Family and Friends,
We are in May and the final weeks of the 2022-2023 school year! We just held Prom this past weekend and it was amazing and so much fun to see all of the students dressed up and having a great time together. Thank you to all the parents and staff who helped pull off another great Prom for our students.
As you look through this newsletter, please take note of the upcoming dates. At the end of the year, there is so much going on and I don't want anyone to miss something. We have no school district wide on Friday, May 5. Our teachers will be participating in professional development on that day so students should not report to school. We also have both our Band and Choir holding concerts in the next two weeks and I can tell you, they sound amazing!
At the end of each school year, we collect all student's Chromebooks and update, clean, and repair them as needed. This year we will be collecting all senior Chromebooks on Wednesday, May 31 and all other students' Chromebooks on Monday, June 5. Please make sure to both Chromebook and charger returned. Any missing or damaged Chromebooks will be assessed a charge and the fees will be added to families' accounts.
Included in this newsletter is the bell schedule for the end of the year. On Monday and Tuesday, May 5 and 6, we will have early release days at the high school. This is to accommodate our exams that will be running those days. Seniors will take exams the week before as their last day is Thursday, June 1.
Speaking of seniors, we will hold our Academic Awards and Senior Night on Thursday, June 1. Senior families will be receiving an invitation in the coming days. Please complete that and return it as soon as possible. We have had an outstanding group of senior families helping to plan and put together our Senior Night Celebration for the class of 2023! A huge thank you to all of our families who have been helping; this is always such an amazing night for our graduates. Graduation practice will be on Friday, June 2 at 1:00pm in the gym and the Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 in the SBHS Gymnasium. We will then have our Boat Parade following at approximately 11:30am.
All our families are invited to come out and watch our graduates on the water in their cap and gowns as we celebrate the class of 2023!
Finally, as we wind down the school year, I just want to thank our outstanding students and families for all your support and partnership throughout this year. Last week we had a scary situation at the high school and I am thankful that the staff and students responded the exact way would like them to in a situation like we had. The quick response and action helped to ensure all students and staff were safe. I want to thank Officer Jennerjohn and the Sturgeon Bay Police Department for investigating and partnering with us for the benefit of our students, staff, and families.
All my best,
Keith Nerby
Principal
Final Exam Bell Schedule for June 5 and 6
Next Year's Schedules Are Coming Soon!
It is important that families review the schedules and reach out to Mrs. O'Handley or Mrs. Kiedrowski if they have any questions or concerns. After the month of June, students will not be able to change their schedules. That means that next year, we will not be doing schedule changes. So please review the classes with your child ahead of time.

The Boys & Girls Club Job Opportunity
The Boys & Girls Club is looking for a person to run the YMCA Summer Foods program that provides meals all over Door County. The person would work collaboratively with the director throughout the summer program.
The main role is to delegate prep work to volunteers and staff as well as cooking bag lunch type meals. All menus are made (mainly sandwiches, salads, bag lunch type food) so there is no planning needed and they would not have to handle ordering, that is done through the YMCA.
This position is 35-40 hours a week Monday-Friday, but Friday is a shorter day. The position would start June 6 (or the week before if available) and end Aug 25 (or sooner if needed).
Pay for this position is $20 per hour.
