Calling all HSE 6th-8th Grade Girls, Parents and Teachers!

The West Harris County American Association of University Women invites all 6th-8th grade girls to the annual Girls in STEM celebration, Expanding Your Horizons in Math and Science. EYH is a day-long conference where professional women share their enthusiasm and experiences working in scientific, technical and financial careers through hands-on educational sessions.

Saturday, February 23, 2019

8:00 a.m.- 3:15 p.m.

$6 per student | $6 per adult

Fee includes: Bus transportation from HSE (optional), light breakfast, lunch, four hands-on sessions with professional women in STEM fields, and a keynote presentation by artist Bridgette Mongeon (http://creativesculpture.com/).

Science Bowl

Science Bowl Team: If you are in 6th-8th grade and you love science - join the HSE Junior Science Bowl Team!

The fast-paced question-and-answer competition includes questions about astronomy, earth and life sciences, computer science and technology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and general science.

Students in 6th-8th grade can apply to join one of the three 5-person teams forming at HSE. Participants must be willing to study on their own and must be able to attend the Regional competition at Texas ATM on March 2nd, 2019.

Should they qualify, the National Championships will be held in Washington DC the weekend of April 25th.

HSE- Houston Parent Academy

HSE is so excited to invite you to our second annual Parent Academy on Saturday, February 9, 2019, between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm.

The Parent Academy consists of a series of inspirational sessions covering a wide variety of topics - from how to help your children in reading and math to bullying prevention and improving health and wellness. It is our hope that as you attend these sessions, you will gain valuable information regarding diverse tools, strategies, and resources that help nurture student's academic, social, and emotional development.

Bring Your Money!

Every Monday HSE Cheerleaders will be selling candy after school so please bring your money and appetite to dismissal on Monday.

Candy will range from 25 cents to 2 dollars!

*All proceeds go to helping offset your HSE cheerleaders competition fees.
