Reminders for Pre-Arranging Subs!
Process for prearrangement of subs:
1. Office staff or employee contacts sub of choice directly to determine if they are willing and/or available to accept the assignment.
a. If a sub is already in an assignment, we ask that you respect the commitment and not recruit an “already scheduled” sub for a job.Exceptions can be made for a multi-day job over a one day job.
2. Enter absence in Absence Management and choose “Save and Assign” substitute.
Extra Notes:
o The chosen sub will not receive a telephone call from Absence Management. The job will appear on their profile and they will receive a notification email of job placement.
o Other substitutes will not see the job or have the opportunity to accept it.
o If a teacher prearranges a sub and no longer needs them, it is the responsibility of the campus or teacher to cancel the sub as soon as possible so they can accept other positions.
§ If a sub reports to work and will not be needed, we must pay them a ½ day’s compensation out of the employee’s leave if we cannot place them in another assignment.
o An employee may continue to NOT pre-arrange a substitute and send the job out into the pool of subs.
Thanks and please let me know if you have questions.

Classroom Phone Calls
We will only call your classroom if:
* A student is being dismissed
* A behavior referral has been entered and student is needed in the office
* An emergency situation
In order for this to be possible:
* Lunches will be in boxes by the front door! Have students check there if a parent has brought their lunch.
* Please enter your attendance on time!
Behavior Referrals Best Practices
Due to the large amount of students "showing up" in the office, please remember to do the following before sending a student to the office for behavior referral.
1) Before a student is sent to the office the parent must have been contacted
2) An office referral submitted on Skyward.
*Exception to this practice: immediate harm to student or faculty.

A Dollop of Dyslexia
The Purpose of Repetition
· If you learn simple facts in an area that you are already familiar with you may retain that information without much repetition.
· If you encode the information in many forms (associations, audio, image, the way the word looks) you may need few repetitions.
· For new language or other unstructured data you may need seven repetitions or more, with each repetition contributing less than the previous.
Goldentouch, PhD, in How Many Repetitions for Long Term Retention, 2013.
The information above is associated with the average learners (no learning disabilities). When working with the dyslexic learner, they must be exposed to something 500-1500 times in order to truly retain the concept. Such is the reason for so much repetition used in the Take Flight program. These students are the ones that can spell or read a word three different ways on the same page. They did not “get it” the first time around in first and second grade. Dyslexia therapy provides that opportunity to them again and in a manner that they can relate to, and ultimately make associations.
Dismissal
Early release will end at 3:00. There will not be early release from 3:00 until dismissal.
The school needs to be contacted for transportation changes before 2:30pm.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Every minute Counts!
· School Starts at 7:40am and the final bell rings at 7:50am.
· Your student’s attendance directly affects their success and we want them to SUCCEED!
· 3 Parent Notes for excused absences will be accepted for each student per year.
· If your student has 10+ unexcused absences in a 6 month period, your case will be referred to attendance court.
· If your student has 18+ total absences, excused or unexcused, the attendance committee will review absences and create a program for credit recovery in order to prevent retention.
