Anne Marie Hodge was a special education teacher in Fulton County and amazing in her role. She helped programs all over the county and was best friends with Maria Pritchett's co-teacher when she taught general ed. Pre-k. Last July she went in to have her appendix removed when spots were found on other organs. She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and lost her battle last weekend. Her husband is a police officer in Johns Creek and they have 2 boys, one is autistic. Please consider eating at Zoe’s on Tuesdays this month to help their family cover medical bills and begin their recovery of their loss.
Johns Creek Elementary participated in the 2016 Forsyth County Pi Fight Math Competition on Saturday, April 30. Competition was extremely challenging this year with over 230 students participating. Johns Creek participated in the team and individual events. Andy Zhang took first place in the individual event and Rohan Kansal took third place. Johns Creek also earned first place in the team event for the third year in a row. Congratulations to all our team members and their academic achievements. Andy Zhang, Aditya Siram, Aneesh Shakthy, Rohan Kansal, Quentin Proels, Ryan Varghese, Anarag Terala, Omkar Tamhane, Jason Zhang, Justin Wang and Hanming Sun.
Curriculum & Instruction
As we wind down the year, please take the time to see the great progress your students have made academically and socially this year. There has been great learning at JCE!! I know that this is a busy time of year and my heart is rooting for a successful finish for you. Keep in mind the ever pressing need to complete your F&P’s. FYI - I will be collecting portfolios and F&P kits during post planning.
I am looking for a teacher at each grade level who is interested knowing more about the Common Core Lucy Calkins Writing program. I have my personal opinion, but would love yours! The program I am looking at is centered on Opinion, Narrative and Informational writing only. It is different than the program we already have. Let me know if you would like to take a kit home and look at it for a few days.

Please print your form and turn in to me as a paper copy. Fifth grade, please let me know if there are any issues with the Career Portfolios as soon as you become aware.

Technology & Media
Safari appears to be working now. The morning news will broadcast tomorrow, as usual.
Friday is the last day for students to check out books in the Media Center.
With so many amazing projects going on in our building, our technology is in high demand! It is imperative that everyone uses the public folders to reserve their devices to avoid any unnecessary confusion or frustration.
With our new Office update, accessing the Public folders is a little different. For directions, click here.
