THE BIG 4: Targets for 2017-2018

  • Instructional Technology
  • Personalized Learning
  • Progress Monitoring
  • Making Connections

Teachers this announcement is to help you with your planning. This is an upcoming event we would like to make you aware of:

On the Monday after Thanksgiving break, November 27th, we will be hosting Chad Crews. He is a magician/master storyteller. He will be performing his show "Authors of Mystery and Horror" four times for us that day in the auditorium. Each show will last for 45 minutes. We are going to try to provide the show to all of our students. The shows will be 1st period with the Freshman, 3rd period with the Seniors, 5th period with the Juniors, and 7th period with the Sophomores. Teachers will bring their classes to the auditorium to experience the show. Teachers with mixed classes will bring their entire class if the majority of the students in their class are that grade. If teachers want to learn more about the show they can visit this link: http://www.chadcrewsprograms.com/p/blog-page_17.html If anyone has questions, they can email or speak to the media specialists. It should be a great performance that hopefully inspires our students to read.

December and January are impacted by holidays and exams so we wanted to update you on points for the two months. Please note:

  • You will get two points for attending the required Bucket sessions on December 5 and January 9.
  • There will also be a required PD for the Eleot (District observation tool) in December. This will be offered during planning and before school one day in December. This is 3 of the required 4 pts.
  • We are combining the months for badging, so you can choose to get your 4th point in December or January. If you choose to badge, you can get your 2 additional points whenever you want in the two months.
  • So, you DO NOT have to get ten points in December and January. It's a combo deal :) for badgers.

Dec 18- Ugly Christmas Sweater Day

Dec 19- North Pole Day

Dec 20 (1/2 day)- Holiday PJ Day

3. Meet with students about their grades.

4. Optional- Make plans for the decorating the door contest.

Connections Decorate your Door Contest (Optional)

YOU MAY WANT TO START YOUR PLANNING IN CONNECTIONS!!! Decorating can begin when we return from our Thanksgiving break!!!

It's that time of year again and we will be entering the DOOR DECORATING season!! This year, our theme is "Celebrating the Holidays and Making Connections" and each Connections class (if you choose to participate) will design, create, and decorate the classroom door. You may extend beyond the actual door though the door must be included in the design. Please consider participating in the contest. The winning teacher and class will be rewarded.

Doors are judged based on three elements:

Celebrating the Holidays and Making Connections Theme

Doors must be decorated by Friday, December 8. They will be judged and the winner announced on Tuesday, December 12. Pictures will be taken and forms sent for voting.

Even if you don't want to be part of the contest, you could wrap your door. Just an idea :)

Reminders from Last Week

Teachers have been given paper passes. These must be used for ANY students in the hall. Admin will be escorting kids without passes back to teachers not following procedures.

Passes must have:

Student's name

Where the student is going

Teacher's LEGIBLE signature

The commons has become hectic at the end of the day. As a result, we will begin to announce the bus routes that have arrived at the end of 7th period. This will begin on Monday, November 20.

Remind students to SAY NO TO THE DOORS. Everyone must enter through the front doors after school begins. Students caught letting people in the building should be referred to an administrator immediately. They will receive ISS the first time and be assigned OSS if any additional incidents happen.
