Reading Intervention Update
September 2023
Ms. Hall's Corner
Welcome Back!
I am so excited to be returning to Lin Howe in my fourth year as the Reading Specialist. It has been awesome coming back and spending time with student's on the yard, during recess, at lunch, during arrival and dismissal and within their classrooms. The beginning of the year is an amazing time to build and foster relationships with all students and check in about all things reading from their summers. I am SUPER excited to continue to work with my instructional aid Mrs. Rebecca and partnering with Mrs. Jones as we help support students in their reading journey.
This school year I will continue to send monthly updates through Mr. Chabola's Dragon Diary letting you know about all the great things the students are doing during reading intervention time.
If you ever have any questions please feel free to email me!
What's NEW in the Literacy Lab?
Movement Path
Pete the Cat has set up a path to the classroom. He wants all readers to get moving with their bodies and their brains so that they are ready to read!
Mirror, mirror on the wall
So many books!
Excited to have the Geodes decodable Level 1 AND 2 texts to read during groups along with small group novels, and other types of decodable texts!
Flexible Seating
A new couch was added as a comfy place to read and practice our skills. We also have wiggly stools, chairs with foot bands and fleece rugs.
Wall of Fun!
Fundations continues to be the primary phonics curriculum in grades TK-GR 3. New racks were installed to better display multiple reference charts across grade levels.
The Science of Reading
There are many parts to language comprehension and word recognition that make up a skilled reader.
Shhhhh it's a secret!

Summer Reading BINGO Challenge!
Summer Reading Bingo Challenge!
Congratulations to all of the students who completed and turned in the BINGO challenge over the summer. It is amazing to see how many kiddos in grades K-5 completed the challenge of various reading, writing, math, science, life skills and social/emotional skill activities. Here is sample of a few that were turned in. Prizes of Brag Tags, book marks and squishes have been ordered and are on their way! Look out for more challenges over breaks as the year goes on.
