PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Dear Heritage Families,
Hello! I am thinking of you all very much and really miss the sounds of you entering the building, heading to class, enjoying lunch, learning with your classmates and playing at recess! If you can, please share with us how you are spending your time at home (academic and family time). You can share these with us via Twitter, follow us @HPCubs. I cannot wait to see what you’ve been up to!
I must admit, it is difficult for me to keep up with work, teach my two kids, make three meals a day, keep the house clean and stay connected with your teachers. It is a stressful and unprecedented time for sure. I want to encourage you to really spend some quality family time during our school closure. Read together, take a walk and talk, play a board game. These are the activities that will help your children grow and learn the most--and they will make memories that will last a lifetime.
Finally, to help streamline our school communication, I will be sending out a weekly email to families. This will include all lessons, teacher blog links, links to resources--basically everything your students will need during our closure. I have attached the first issue here so you can take a look at our new communication tool. This first issue does not include very many links and lessons as this is a new procedure. Your teachers will contact you this first week between March 27-March 30. Beginning in April, all lessons and activities will be linked on this newsletter & emailed from our office. As always, if you have any questions about the links, lessons or resources, please contact your child’s teacher.
I am missing my hugs from the kids and currently working on a new way to show love that doesn’t require touching for when we return! Stay healthy and safe! Keep learning and growing. I look forward to seeing you sooner than later!
Love and miss you,
Dr. Sutton

Changes to our Box Tops for Education program!
This year we are changing our school reward program for collecting Box Tops due to the program being in the process of going digital. The school has set a goal to raise $1000 for technology in our school. We will be tracking this goal and when we reach a percentage goal, we will have a schoolwide celebration. We are excited to show all students how much the Box Top program impacts our school and how easy it is becoming to participate by just scanning your receipt instead of clipping and submitting on paper.
Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label.
If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Box Tops are still worth 10¢ for our school. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online.
Look for a flyer to come home explaining in more detail the changes Box Tops has made to their program. As always we appreciate your participation to earn us money for our school's technology.
Volunteer Background Check
An annual background check is required for all volunteers. That includes child abuse and neglect screenings, as well as a check of the national sex offender registry. Anyone who has a substantiated incident of child abuse or is on the sex offender list will not be allowed to volunteer in our schools. When completed and signed, please return these forms to the school office to be processed. These services are offered free of charge, but do take some time, so please allow at least one week for school personnel to process the request. Anyone who wishes to participate in classroom activities like school parties, or class field trips, will need to have a completed background check. We encourage all parents to fill out the request so we will have one on file for the year.
Important Information to Know
Since teachers are engaged with students in the classroom during school hours, the best way to contact them is through email, voicemail, or a note. This will give them the opportunity to contact you during their planning time. Our teachers are also happy to arrange an appointment to discuss your child’s progress.
If you have an urgent matter, call the main office at 636-327-3846 and an office secretary will be happy to help you in any way they can.
End of the Day Procedures
Please call the main office before 2:00 pm with any transportation changes. We appreciate as much time as possible to relay the message to your student and their teacher.
If you are going to pick up your student early from school, please come before 3:00 pm. We call students to the office upon your arrival as we want students engaged in class as long as possible. Remember that early pick ups and/or late arrivals impact perfect attendance. Please note there is no early dismissal from the Primary Office between 3:00 pm and 3:20 pm. If you must pick up your student early from school, please do so prior to 3:00 pm.

Visitor Cafe Guidelines
Parents and family members are welcome to visit their child at school during their lunch time. We do have limited space since we have a large population of students and ask to keep your group to a minimum when visiting. While you are visiting, please follow our HPE Visitor Cafe' Guidelines:
- You must have a visitor's badge issued prior to meeting your child in the cafe'.
- Only one friend is allowed to eat with your child in the commons area per visit.
- You may only bring food for your student. Please do not share with friends.
- Students need to return to the classroom when their classroom lunch period is over.
- All siblings are asked to remain seated and supervised at all times.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a safe and special opportunity to visit with our child. If these guidelines are not abided by, these privileges may be revoked at any time.
