Percussion Stuff!
April 6-16
This Week
We will be meeting on Wednesday nights in April, the 6th, 13th, 20th and the 27th from 6-8:30 pm.
I apologize for that confusion.
I would like to build up the numbers for next year and have a large section, so if you are not currently involved in a fall sport, please consider joining us for this year. Sure, we work hard, but the product we produce is amazing and the students really bond together and grow musically.
Coming up next week is the orchestra pops concert. There is rehearsal on Friday night, April 15 from 8 - 10 pm, rehearsal on April 16 from 1 - 4 pm and the concert is April 16 at 7:30 pm. There is currently a spot open for someone to volunteer to play. Please let me know if you are interested.
Saturday April 23 is the MO Day of Percussion. We will be taking 2 ensembles (Ave Maria/Chipboard and Breakfast at Timpani's) to the Small Ensemble Competition, all of our soloists will be performing/competing and we will take a Large Ensemble to compete---maybe, it depends on which ensemble we take--Elysium or Rockin' Rickie Rocket, or if I can get them to let us perform both. This will be a full day of percussion performing and learning. I will cover the cost of the student's admission for the day, chaperones will need to cover themselves, but it is only $5. Check out modop.weebly.org for more information on the day. Please wear the green and black while competing and remain in green and black OR change into Parkway South gear and jeans or khakis.
Saturday April 30 is the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Everyone gets to compete that day since we did so well at Parkway Central. I have no performance times yet, but plan on this being an all day event. State is held at the University of Missouri in Columbia which is about a 2 hour drive, we will wear the green and black again.
The spring band concert is April 29 in Gym A. It will begin at 7:30 pm and all students will be participating. Dress for that concert is tuxedos and formals.
The percussion concert is Tuesday, May 10, this is a change from many previous announcements. I got the form back from the Athletic Office (which I submitted in August) a couple of weeks ago and saw that I asked for the 10th, so please make that change in your calendars. Also, please let me know of any potential conflicts so I can plan for them.
In class next week we will be having playing tests on Elysium F - G and Rockin Rickie Rocket G - H.
Finally, please check Infinite Campus to see if grades are where you expect them to be. I believe I have gotten all of the pep bands and ensemble grades in correctly. Let me know if you think there has been an error.
