WEDNESDAY, MAY 10 - INFORMATIONAL SESSION FOR FAMILIES OF 4TH AND 5TH GRADE STUDENTS
Between May 22 and May 26, our fourth and fifth grade students will participate in a lesson on growth and development taught by our physical education and health teachers. The students will watch a film discussing growth and developmental changes. The boys will be taught by Mr. Adam Lambert and Mr. Matthew Chase, while Ms. Jennifer Memoli will teach the girls.
Prior to these lessons, parents are invited to attend a presentation of the film on Wednesday, May 10, at 6:00 p.m. in the Jordan/Jackson's multipurpose room. Our school nurses, Courtney Cogliano and Aimee Reber, will also be available to answer questions. Students should not attend on this evening. We hope that you will be able to join us for this preview.
Under Massachusetts law and the Mansfield Public School Committee Policy, you may exempt your child from any portion of the curriculum that primarily involves human sexuality education or human sexuality issues. Please send a letter to request an exemption for your child to Principal Nieratko at email@example.com. Students who are exempt from the curriculum will not be penalized and will be provided with another assignment.
Below are a few pamphlets you may want to review with your student prior to May 22.

Nocturnal Animals and Friends
Raccoons are primarily crepuscular (active at dawn and dusk) and nocturnal (active at night). They occasionally venture out in the daytime. Raccoons often adjust their feeding schedules, especially in spring when rearing their young. Pictures courtesy of our art teacher Ms. Kanevski and Mrs. Risotti's 3rd grade class!
MESA'S 'ONE BOOK, ONE GRADE' PROGRAM
Kids Helping Kids Begins Monday, May 8 for 5th Grade Students!
With the help of the fifth grade staff, reading specialists and our fantastic parent donations, MESA is happy to announce that they were able to bring back this enrichment program to our fifth grade students. Each student will receive a copy of the book "The War that Saved my Life" by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley to keep. Each classroom will read the book and, as they discuss related topics, they will also participate in a coin drive to benefit Save the Children. The money raised will help provide relief to children in need around the world. The coin drive will begin May 8 and end May 31. If you have any questions, please reach out to MESA at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Attention 4th Grade Families
Greetings from the Nurses. Recently there were letters sent home to some 4th grade students with information about physical exams. Unfortunately, there was a typographical error and we would like to clarify. If you received a letter, please see below for the corrected date. We apologize for any confusion. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Under Massachusetts General Law 105 CMR 200.00, Mansfield Public Schools require documentation of physical exams in grades Pre-K, K, 4, 7, and 10 (as well as each year for high school sports eligibility). We will accept physicals dated from 9/1/2021 and after.
