Nutritional Services
21-22 School Year Updates
Nutritional Services Information:
Welcome back families and students. We are so happy to see students back in the school cafes eating meals with us. Here are a few friendly reminders from the Nutritional Services Department.
If you have any questions regarding Nutritional Services please contact Renee Arbogast at 763-502-5022 for assistance.
Completion of Application for Educational Benefits:
If you have not completed the 2021-22 Application for Educational Benefits, please complete it soon. If approved for free or reduced priced meals, you may qualify for reduced fees activities fees. By completing this form it also provides funding to our school district for reading specialists, para support and other benefits. Applications can be obtained from your school’s main office or can be completed online at https://www.fridleyschools.org/about-us/departments/nutritional-services/meal-applications If you have questions about the application process, please contact Kathy Backstrom at 763-502-5021.
Use of Bar Codes at Breakfast and Lunch:
We are using bar codes at breakfast and lunch so students are not touching the pin pads. Please remind your students to bring their lunch bar code to meals with them. Students can use the Campus Student App on their cell phone to access the bar code or take a picture of it on their phone. By using the bar code scanners, we are able to move the students through the cashier lines quicker.
FREE Breakfast and Lunch to all students this year
We are providing a free breakfast and lunch to all students this year. Breakfast is offered in the café before school and after 1st hour. Lunch is offered in the school café. In order to receive a free meal, your student must take a meal including ½ cup fruit or vegetable.
Got Milk? Or more food?
If your student wants just milk, this is not free and costs $0.55. If your student wants an additional entrée this is not free and a student must have money in their lunch. Money can be given to Kathy Backstrom in the District office or you can add money online. Please make sure you have money in your students’ lunch account to cover this.
Online Meal Payments:
If your student wants to purchase extra milk or Ala Carte they must have money in their lunch account. To add money to their meal account please go to Infinite Campus. Money can also be sent to school with your student if you choose to pay with cash or paper check. Please include your student’s name, teacher’s name and lunch pin on the envelope. . If you are having trouble accessing the parent portal please email Campus.Parenthelp@fridley.k12.mn.us or contact your School’s Main Office for someone to assist you.
Monthly Menus:
We have menus planned for a month at a time, but please note that the menu can change. We are having trouble getting some of the items we use to make school meals. Just like you are seeing shortages in the grocery store, we are seeing issues with our manufacturers. Please be patient with us and will be providing as many options as possible to our students. At this time, we are not providing a cold alternative to kindergarten students to help get them through the lunch lines as quickly as possible. We hope to start providing this option to them soon.
Monthly student menus will be available on the Nutritional Services website at https://www.fridleyschools.org/about-us/departments/nutritional-services/lunch-breakfast-menus
Food Allergies:
If your student has a medically diagnosed food allergy or is lactose intolerant, please contact Sara Supplee RD, Nutrition Coordinator, at 763-502-5028 to discuss your child’s needs. There is some additional USDA forms that must be completed.
