Technology Night
Technology Night was awesome!!! The parents received invaluable information about internet safety and technology dangers from Todd Shirley. I truly believe they walked away a little terrified but with very important information.
The students participated in breakout sessions: VR, Digital Breakout, 3D printing, Spheros (which were a huge hit!), Stop Motion Animation, and a Kahoot on Internet Safety. They had a blast!
Thank you to Courtnie Downs, Vickie Sexton, Blair Morris, Danielle Fitts, Allison Harbin, and Stephanie DeMaria for hosting sessions! The students had so much fun!!!
Thank you Amber Smith for delivering a helpful Q&A for parents on Online Learning Learning Days! Hopefully we didn't jinx ourselves! :)
Thank you to Emily Rodriguez, Mary Jo Dunn, and Colleen Neubert for crowd control and helping direct parents! It was a huge help!
Thank you, Jeremy Anderson, for helping the B2 leaders bring chairs to the gym and setting up the with mics and panel in the gym!
Thank you to Jeff Jager for being so flexible and letting us use the gym since Science Fair projects were in the cafeteria!
Thank you Amber Litzinger for helping set up the table in the gym!
Thank you Lynne Mashburn for creating the program flyer and getting it ready!
Thank you Jennie Hartzler for helping set up the VR Googles and getting the revised flyer ready to go! I appreciate your willingness to help so much!
Thank you Trudie Berry for helping set up the easel with information for parents! Great idea!
Thank you Gini Kieffer for organizing after school to set out the chairs in the gym! They did an amazing job lining them up!
Thank you Carla and Jennifer for staying and showing your support! The parents loved visiting with you two!
Thank you Carla for ordering the refreshments! They were a big hit!
This night would not have been possible without the members of the 21st Century Team and volunteers! Thank you again for helping make Technology Night a success! Together we are better!
Throwback Thursday!
P.S. That adorable little girl is Traci Wallace!!! :)

Stoplight Discussions
What do the Student Led Discussion Cups Signal?
- Red = I am processing and/or taking notes right now. Don’t call on me.
- Green = I am ready to jump into the conversation. Please call on me.
- Yellow = I would like to take this conversation in a new direction. Call on me to shake up a repetitive or “dead” discussion.
Have students sit in a circle. Give each student three different Silo cups – red, yellow, and green. Discuss the procedure for using cups during discussion: they will invite their peers into the conversation based on the cup color displayed. Because cups signal conversation, students build a conversation with each other and not with you, the teacher.
You may have to remind them that they are not looking to you for “approval” during the conversation. They should be most concerned with what their peers are saying.
Cafe Review
As you all are aware, Mashburn was chosen for a café review the week of March 16th. This review is very important and entails quite a bit of work on our amazing café staff, therefore we asking that you do not schedule any field trips the week of March 16th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
