Supervisor-led Professional Development for Teachers
Welcome back from the Division of Curriculum (DOC). We are excited to work with you during our Supervisor-led PD. We are excited to share the summer work of so many teachers who helped prepare curricula to guide distance learning. Below are the dates and times for Supervisor PD. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your DOC Supervisor.
Teachers During the School Day
Whether teachers are instructing from their home or their school, when preparing for distance learning, all teachers will:
Implement the Return to Learn Plan.
Follow their school’s established schedule for the school day.
Plan together to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.
Deliver high-quality instruction online and provide clear directions for offline work.
Provide routine feedback to students and parents.
Maintain an open link to their online classroom that is provided to appropriate administrators.
Keep their camera turned on during scheduled instructional times with students.
Teachers may coordinate their working location through their school principal.
Educational Support Personnel
WCPS values our Educational Support Personnel (ESP), and we appreciate their role in positively impacting our students. We know students miss seeing our school staff, and our staff misses seeing students. Thank you for your patience and your understanding, as we made the difficult decision and asked some of you to stay home. WCPS is examining all staffing scenarios with the best interests of our employees and their families in mind. As schools begin to slowly reopen to students, your supervisor will contact you directly if you need to report to work.
Submitting Time for ESP
ESP employees who are reporting to work should submit their time as regular hours worked.
ESP employees who are not reporting to work do not need to do anything with their time card.
All ESP employees will receive pay for their standard hours through Thanksgiving.
Health and Safety Expectations
We are committed to following and upholding health and safety protocols in our schools. WCPS is following Governor Hogan’s mask mandate, and all staff must wear your mask around others. As you work with your colleagues, it is imperative that you keep more than six feet between you. Wash your hands often throughout the day. WCPS has ample supplies of hand sanitizer and personal protective equipment available at all of our schools. We must follow these guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This will also keep us moving forward to a time when it is safe to welcome back students.
