Abrams Parent News
May 14, 2021
Dear Abrams Families:
What a school year this has been! We have all certainly lived through a time in history that we never anticipated. It's hard to believe that we are within 2 weeks of school ending. While we do not have all of the traditional end-of-year events in place, in the next couple of weeks, students will be participating in the following activities:
May 21 - 27, Field Day
Each grade level will participate in Field Day activities outside. Classroom teachers and our Related Arts teachers will be engaging with students in fun outdoor games. Parents are unable to attend Field Day activities this year. Please be sure that your students are dressed appropriately - shoes for running around outside, hat, water bottle, and pre-apply sunscreen. We are not able to put sunscreen on students at school.
- Friday, May 21st - 4th and 5th grades
- Monday, May 24 - Kindergarten
- Tuesday, May 25 - 1st grade
- Wednesday, May 26 - 2nd grade
- Thursday, May 27 - 3rd grade
Thursday, May 26th, Kindergarten Graduation

11:00 Mrs. Cimler's class
11:00 Ms. Pierce's class

11:00 Ms. Swenson's class
Friday, May 28th, 5th grade Continuation and BBQ

10:00 5th grade BBQ - behind school
On Friday, May 28th all students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. We will follow typical end-of-day dismissal procedures.
We have appreciated all of the work that our families have done to help us keep our school safe and our students in school as much as possible. Your willingness to collaborate with our nurse, keep students home when ill, communicate with the school with your questions, comments or concerns, and your flexibility when we have had to quarantine classes or students has been very beneficial to all of our students.
As we look ahead to next year, we are unsure as to what protocols will still be in place in regard to Covid-19. We will communicate that information to families as soon as we know where we will stand in regard to what our procedures will look like for the next school year. We will communicate via Blackboard and Facebook over the summer and will provide updates on our website when appropriate.

Student Drop off and Pick Up Procedures
We ask that all parents on school grounds wear face coverings that cover both their nose and mouth at all times.
Arrival:
We are asking that if at all possible, families consider accessing Abrams from the back of the school, either using O’Connell from the south side of Abrams or Hare Ave from the north side of Abrams.
When coming through the carpool line, please do NOT drop students off in front of the kindergarten playground. Please pull all the way forward and drop students off in front of the school. This helps us to keep the carpool line moving and get cars off of the surrounding streets.
If you need to get out of the car to assist your child, please park in the lot behind the school off of Wetzel Avenue and walk with your child to their building access door. Please do not get out of your vehicle in front of the school as it holds up the line.
Please do not allow students to exit your vehicle at the bus loading zones at the rear of the school. All students being dropped off by car must be dropped off at the front of the school for safety.
Dismissal:
Parents picking up students at dismissal time should park in the lot at the rear of the school and proceed to either the kindergarten blacktop (Kindergarten students only) or the basketball court. Students must present their dismissal card to the teachers on duty before leaving for the day.
