The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
SCCS TEACHING AND LEARNING SEGMENT
If you step into our classrooms there is a significant slice, a visual called a Storyboard, that represents the ongoing teaching and learning happening in that room. The Storyboard is co-created by teachers and students, representing the learning journey, and is a visual that helps students see their part in God’s Story. At the end of the school year our Storyboards are bursting with beautiful stories from the year! Storyboard creation is an essential practice of the Teaching for Transformation framework at our school. You are invited to come see the stories on the walls of our school!

TRAIL'RAISER TREK
We are excited to report that Trail'Raiser Trek raised $100,000!!
Saturday, April 15, 2023, won’t go down in history as a beautiful day weatherwise, but we will always remember our first Trail’Raiser Trek as a day that reflected the warm love and generosity we enjoy from our faithful supporters!
880 people of all ages came in person to the event and enjoyed walking through our hallways (about a quarter of attendees braved the cold and walked the outside route!). With an additional 85 virtual trekkers, we had a total of 965 walkers/virtual trekkers who EACH unlocked $65 in sponsorship gifts given by businesses and supporters!
The morning event was a big hit, and everyone enjoyed the delicious brunch, the iced coffees or fruit refreshers, gourmet cupcakes, bars, and snack mixes, and Truth t-shirts. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity that shines at an event like this! Through sponsor gifts and donations at the event, $100,000 was raised to help build the gym floor in the future Blazer Center which will be the foundation for thousands of God's kids to worship, gather, run, jump, and perform - as they learn and live God's Story!
THANK YOU to all who gave to the Trail’Raiser Trek so that collectively we could “move the needle forward” on the future Blazer Center!
We are excited to report that in the last month – through generous commitments from donors and through the Trail’Raiser Trek, we have moved from $6.3 million to $6.7 million given and committed to the Blazer Center campus expansion! God’s generosity through His people is so AMAZING! Remember that we need to reach $9 million to start building the campus expansion and we are excited for the rising momentum we see! Every gift matters and is critical in making our vision a reality for God’s kids!
If you were unable to attend the event and would still like to give, you can head to the link below or drop off/mail your gift to Sioux Center Christian School / 630 First Ave SE / Sioux Center, IA 51250.

THANK YOU for your support of God’s kids at SCCS.

5TH GRADE MATH BEE
On Tuesday, ten of our students participated in the 5th Grade Math Bee hosted by Sioux Falls Christian School. The students were involved in two rounds of testing: an individual problem solving round and a team problem solving round. These problems were challenging and required accuracy, speed, higher-level thinking, and persistence.
Congratulations to these 5th grade math students! They demonstrated a positive attitude, determination in solving difficult math problems, and did a great job of representing SCCS!

3RD GRADE PINBALL MACHINES
Every year our 3rd graders use their creative and technical skills to create pinball machines. They first spend time testing the probability of where the ball rolls and use that data to decide where targets should go and the points they should be worth. They test variables, such as how many books they need to prop it up, the height of the ramp, and the angle of the ramp, to see how those things impact the path of the ball. They used the compiled data to make informed decisions on their designs and created unique and fun themes with their pinball machines!
A highlight of the pinball unit is sharing their creations with parents and other grades! Last week, our 4Care students enjoyed a visit to Mrs. Korver's 3rd grade classroom to play on the pinball machines!

TUITION GRANT INFORMATION FOR 23/24 SCHOOL YEAR
Our desire is to have Christian education as accessible for as many families as possible. We believe that what God is doing at SCCS is so important that we want all mission-appropriate families who meet all admissions requirements to have access!
We are excited and thankful to offer generous tuition support to our families.
Families applying for tuition grants (which includes both NICSTO funding and the SCCS Tuition grant fund) need to fill out the application. You can find the application at https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/currentfamilies/tuitiongrantapplication.cfm We have moved to a streamlined form for all tuition grant programs - so families just need to complete one form. We will no longer be using an online service.
For the 2023-2024 school year, education savings accounts (ESAs) are available to those who have an incoming K student, anyone transferring from a public school, and families who have an adjusted gross income below 300% of the poverty line. NICSTO funds are available for anyone below 400% of the poverty line. We encourage all families to look at their tax return and apply for a tuition grant if you are below 400% of the poverty line. We recognize that families between 300 and 400% will not be eligible for an ESA until the 2024-2025 school year, so we especially want to be able to support families in this bracket through NICSTO funding. So, please apply if this is you!
Please complete the form provided in the link above (which will ask you to include your adjusted gross income from Federal Form 1040, line 11) and turn in the form and a copy of pages 1 and 2 of Federal Form 1040.
Applications are due May 25 (the last day of school). Printed copies of the form are available in the office. If you have questions, please contact Kelli Van Roekel at kvanroekel@siouxcenterchristian.com.
LIBRARY INFORMATION
This year our SCCS library was a place to Find the BEST Story! All library books are due Friday, May 12. You’ll receive an email and a paper notice sent with your child if you have an end of the year library fine.
Email jvansoelen@siouxcenterchristian.com if you have questions. Thank you!
