Brief Summary
Lionel Shephard is an African american boy that just started his freshman year at a new school called Bluford high. but all he wants to do is play basketball. His parents thinks that basketball is a waste of time, and education is more important but Lionel thinks it's the other way around. his dream is to go to the NBA, and he not going to give up. Lionel has a friend named Jamar. Jamar Dropped out of school and now wants Lionel to drop out but Lionel doesn't know what he wants to do. Lionel teachers let him know that he's in danger of failing the 9th grade but he doesn't listen.
