St. Anthony School

Developing a Child's Mind, Body, and Soul

May - 2016

SA Parents & Families,

I can't believe we are in the last month of our 2015/16 school year. It has been an incredible year here at St. Anthony's. Check out our school yearbook to get a good picture of the special experiences we have all had this year! A special THANK YOU to Mrs. Fogle for putting together our school yearbook. We now have copies on sale in the office for $20. May is going to be a very busy month with all of the end-of-the-year activities, field trips, and special events. Click on the button below for a May calendar to keep you up-to-date. I hope to see many of you at the Gala on Saturday, May 14th. It will be a great event!

God Bless,

Bryan Yorksmith

Opportunities for Volunteer Hours

We have a few volunteer opportunities for hours this month.

  • We need volunteers to help with our Spring Gala this year. Please email Mr. Yorksmith at byorksmith@stantschool.org if you are interested in volunteering.
  • We need to have someone replace, caulk, and paint the trim on the playground side of the older modular building.
  • We need to have someone clean the gutters on the modular building.

Please email me (byorksmith@stantschool.org) if you are interested.

We Need Your Help!

Our Spring Gala is coming quickly. We need volunteers to help with set-up on the morning of Saturday, May 14th at 8:00 a.m. at Pinetop Country Club. Set-up usually takes about 3 hours. We also need help during the event. Volunteers are needed from 4:00 p.m. to about 11:00 p.m. Please email Mr. Yorksmith at byorksmith@stantschool.org

We ask that every family at St. Anthonys participate in procuring one item for us to use at the Gala for raffles, auctions, etc. That can be a gift card or any item that we can use as an auction item. Families that do not procure at least one item will be charged $50 to their account in lieu of finding a donation item.

NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program)

We are finishing up our classes this month for the National Archery in the Schools Program. The students love archery! A special THANK YOU to the Arizona Game & Fish Department for sponsoring this program and lending us the equipment to have NASP here at St. Anthonys. Next year we plan on doing the two week program at the beginning of the year so that we can run an after school archery team that will be able to compete across Arizona. We look forward to competing because we have some straight shooters!

St. Anthony Spring Music Programs, 2016

We are very excited to present Mrs. Sonne's music programs this month. Click HERE for the flyer. We will have 3 separate programs:

2nd & 3rd Grades "School Daze" - Tuesday, May 10th, 2:00 p.m.

Pre-K, K, and 1st Grades "God Bless the U.S.A." - Tuesday, May 17th, 2:00 p.m.

4th & 5th Grades, "Music, Music, Music!" - Tuesday, May 24th, 2:00 p.m.

The Honor Choir will perform at all three programs. Performances will be in the Hall. We look forward to seeing you!

15 Days of Fitness

For the last few years St. Anthonys has participated in the 15 Days of Fitness. Students work towards a walking/running goal throughout the 15 days and all classes work towards that goal daily. We publish a "daily exercise" on our Facebook page that students and staff create. We encourage all of our families to participate.

We will begin the 15 Days of Fitness on Thursday, May 5th and it will culminate on Field Day which is scheduled for Thursday, May 19th. I hope you enjoy the 15 Days of Fitness we have planned for this year. It is a great way to start off our summer break!
