Message from the Principal
Dear Advantage Arts Family,
The end of November is here. The time is already starting to fly by. Please have a safe holiday week. This is a great time of the year to rest and reflect on all of the great things your students have accomplished, so far. I like to think about the different parts of my life I am grateful for. We have a wonderful school, hard-working teachers, and amazing families.
Thank you to the huge response we had about substitute teaching. When we get back from the break, I will be reaching out to those who responded. We are looking for parents to help out with committees including our W.A.T.C.H.D.O.G.S. who help with pick-up, recess, and drop-off.
In my experience working in different schools, there is one common time when the front office is super busy. This is at the end of the school day. To lessen the chaos during this time, I am asking parents to not check their students out after 3:00 pm. Please wait the last 15 minutes, unless it is an emergency. This will help our office staff be available for other situations that arise at the end of the school day. If you need your student between that time, please call ahead and schedule checking your student out with our front office staff.
Again, please be safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in a week.
Mr. Kano
SPIRIT WEEK

Center Stage
2nd Grade Marbled Clouds
In second grade we are learning about the water cycle and different types of clouds. We wanted to experiment with some different supplies for this project so we learned how to marble paper. We used shaving cream and food coloring to marble our paper. It was so fun to swirl around the color! Then we cut up the marbled paper to represent the three different types of clouds we learned about. This was a favorite process!
3rd Grade Weather Art
In third grade we have been learning about weather patterns and extreme weather. In art we created paintings of stormy skies and then stamped gray clouds, lighting, and raindrops to create the weather. We also used oil pastels to add more details. After creating the weather art, we wrote an acrostic poem about the weather we chose. These paintings turned out amazingly and we can't wait to display them at school!
After School Clubs
ART CLUB WILL BE HELP DECEMBER 1st at 3:15 in the Art Room #203
Drama Club
There will be play practice for drama club for the students that made it for a kid version of A Christmas Carol at 3:30 Tuesday! The list for the students that make it into the play was posted a couple of weeks ago. Those students will have practice each Tuesday at 3:30 leading up to the performance in December. This will be for grades 4th-6th ONLY! Younger siblings WILL need to be picked up on time after school.
Violin Music Club is NOW FULL
Violin Club will be for 3rd-6th Grade Student and is on MONDAY OR WEDNESDAY from 3:15-4:15. Students in the Violin Music Club will need go straight to ROOM 201 (Next to Mrs. Redd's art room) after school. On the day your student has club, larger instruments can be brought into the front office in the morning and must be picked up on the way to room 210.
Get Involved
We have so many fun opportunities to volunteer at our amazing school and be part of all of the fun!
Our next big volunteer opportunities are December 10th for the school play, please contact Miss Thomas at ethomas@advantagearts.org
We will also be having Polar Express Day on December 16th. Please contact the front office for information on volunteering.
Thank you to everyone that has volunteered so far this year. You are the reason Advantage Arts Academy is so amazing.
We are looking for volunteers with tiling experience that could help install a tile mural that the students worked on last year. The mural will be indoors and is about 8'x5'.
