IMPORTANT SNOW MAKE-UP DAY INFO.

Friday, Feb. 17 - School will be in session - this is the make-up school day for the snow day on Dec. 13.

Friday, Jan. 20 - Professional Development Day for Staff Only (Note: this will not be a school day as previously announced. Snow make-up day will be 2/17/23 instead.)

RACING TO READ!!

On your mark... Get set... READ!! We are “racing to read” across South Dakota from January 9th to March 2nd. Readers across the state will accumulate miles by reading books to help our figurative Book Mobile race around the state. Students will use their current reading logs to keep track of time spent reading. We will make a paper chain to have a visual representation of how much we have read. We are in a friendly competition with the Custer County Library and YMCA to see who can read the most and build the longest chain. On March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’s birthday, we will have a party in the Pine Room at the Custer County Library to join our chains and celebrate all the reading our community has done together. Let’s get to reading!

Friendly Reminders for Parent/Guardians ~

~ Please remember to call or email the office if your child will not be in school.

~ If your child has a stomach illness, please keep them home for 24 hours.

~ Click here for the guidelines from the Dept of Health for temporary exclusion from a school setting.

Parents & guardians, please do not allow your child to bring toys from home to school. This can become a distraction for other students. We also do not want the toys to get lost or broken.
~ Please always check your student before they leave the house to make sure their clothes are within the dress code policy, and that they are dressed appropriately for the weather.

~ No coffee, soda, or energy drinks are allowed during school at HES & CES.
~ Please help supervise your child during after-school wrestling, volleyball or basketball games.

~ Please check the Lost & Found or remind your child to check it periodically.
