The sessions will be held over the summer at Harrisburg PaTTAN. Participants will be reimbursed for travel, meals, and lodging expenses. There are no stipends. Applications and more information about the dates and projects can be found on the PDE SAS Website News.
Join the PDE SAS Science Learning Community on SAS for the latest news on PA Science Standards
The State Board of Education gave its approval of the new Pennsylvania Integrated Standards for Science, Environment & Sustainable Literacy, and Technology & Engineering. A copy of the standards document is in the Content Repository of the Science Learning Community on SAS. Resources will be added as they become available. Currently the Content Repository includes a clean copy of the standards document, a delineation of the three dimensions in each science standard, an abbreviated comparison of NGSS and the new PA science standards, along with learning progressions of the Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) and Crosscutting Concepts (CCC). To access these resources, and others, join the Science Learning Community on SAS. If you aren't sure how to join a community on the PDE SAS portal, watch this brief video to learn how.
PDE Extends Windows for PSSA/Keystones.
The mitigation of COVID-19 throughout the 2021-22 school year has caused many local educational entities to modify their school calendar. To provide flexibility for schools to administer the Spring 2022 PSSA and Keystone exams, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is modifying the testing windows as follows:
- April 18 – April 29 - English Language Arts PSSA
- May 2 – May 27 - Math, Science, and Make-Up PSSA
- May 9 – June 1 - Keystone Exams
The extended windows add approximately three weeks to the allowable administration of each test. Test Administrators may use the additional time as needed and do not need to submit an extension request to PDE or DRC.
The deadline to be eligible for early reporting remains May 6, 2022 for pencil and paper testing and May 13, 2022 for on-line testing.
All PSSA materials should now be inventoried and shipped for return by May 27, 2022.
All Keystone Exam materials should now be inventoried and shipped for return by June 2, 2022.
Questions regarding this extension may be directed to the PDE Division of Assessment and Accountability at RA-ED-PSSA-Keystone@PA.gov.
Career Ready PA & Remake Learning Days
Career Ready PA is excited to share a seamless opportunity for students to obtain artifacts for their career portfolio by participating in the Remake Learning Days festival. The festival takes place across Pennsylvania between May 12-23, 2022. A variety of organizations host free events for all age groups and provide hands-on learning opportunities. Participating organizations include libraries, schools, tech centers, museums, play spaces, community centers and more.
