UTC Oxfordshire
Newsletter - 13th May 2022
Dear all,
Today we bid farewell to our Year 11s and Year 13s as they head off on study leave ahead of the exams starting next week. There is a great energy around the school and excitement for what lies ahead, some of our 6th form students have been with us for four years so it’s a significant step for them. We wish everyone well in their exams and look forward to welcoming some of our year 11s back in September as they join us for sixth form. Please remember it’s business dress as usual during the exams and don’t forget your lanyard and calculators! You can find out more details about the exam procedure in our Candidate and Parent Handbook: UTC Oxfordshire » Exams
Year 11 Product Design Exhibition
Last night we hosted the year 11 product design exhibition, and it was fantastic to see all their hard work on display. It was so good to be able to welcome parents back into school and exhibit such great work.
REME Craftsman’s cup final - We won!!
Congratulations to Year 13s Jamie, Alex and Ben who won the REME Craftsman Cup final which was held at MOD Lyneham. Their winning design was to hold a rifle on a quad bike with electromagnets.
The finalists were treated to lunch and a tour of the training hangers where they saw a variety of weapons, ammunition, aircraft, tanks and then enjoyed a tour of the REME museum. Congratulations to all the students who took part and a special commendation goes to the 6 teams who made it to the final.
Thank you to REME for an entertaining day and organising the competition. We're looking forward to next year!

The Big Plastic Count 16-22 May
Next week is the Big Plastic Count, the UK’s biggest ever investigation into household plastic waste. The UK produces more plastic waste per person than almost any other country in the world (only the US is worse) – we find this quite shocking.
If you are interested, you can find out more here: www.thebigplasticcount.com.
