Counselor’s Chronicle
Vale Middle School
Transition Season Has Begun!
Incoming Fifth Graders
Starting December 7th, Vale counselors will be visiting with 5th graders at the elementary schools in person and/or virtually (see schedule below). We will share information regarding middle courses, electives, and expectations. Fifth grade teachers and 5th grade counselors will be posting the planning guide to their Schoology account so that parents can view them and work with their children to select classes for next year. Students will work with their elementary counselor in January to select courses in HAC. Between now and January, we will be sending out information for our Elective Preview which will be available via Smore Newsletter followed by a Townhall for parents to ask any lingering questions they may have about electives.
Current 8th Graders
Guidance lessons with our 8th graders began last week! Mr. Herrera has been talking to our 8th grade students about making the transition to high school and what they can expect. All counselors have been posting information about Magnet Schools on their Schoology Accounts. Magnet School Applications opened on November 30th and any 8th grade student who is interested in applying will need to get their application in by January 18th.
For more information about magnet schools, please visit this link MAGNET SCHOOLS.
