Back-to-School Checklist
2023-2024 Back-to-School Checklist ☑️
⬜ Check SIS K12 Portal for K-12 teacher assignments, available starting at 4 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 4!
⬜ Complete the required eforms in the SIS K12 Portal no later than Sept. 15. These forms include proof of residency and more. This year, annual Proof of Residency documentation will be required for students who enter kindergarten, sixth grade, and ninth grade. Watch this how-to video for help completing eforms.
⬜ Look for a Welcome Back email from your child’s school and teacher to learn their school-specific schedule pickup procedures, dates, and times.
⬜ Review school supply lists and purchase needed items. New this year, each elementary school and grade has a unique list based on their needs. High Schools do not have supply lists because course requirements vary. We suggest bringing a notebook and pen or pencil on the first day to record specific teacher requests.
⬜ Look for transportation information in your email on Aug. 11. (EDITED TO ADD: Transportation information may be delayed by several days.)
⬜ Make arrangements for before- and after-school care. If you plan to use Chautauqua, don’t wait to sign up. Spots are filling fast, and waitlists are growing.
⬜ Take note of this year’s Late Start days. The District provides $10 supervision (separate from Chautauqua) for K-5 students who need to be dropped off at their regular time on late start days. Learn more.
⬜ Schedule immunization appointments with your healthcare provider, as needed. or at the St. Charles County Health Department. Learn more about required immunizations.
⬜ Plan to participate in extracurricular sports this fall? Make an appointment for your child’s sports physical. Families can make physical appointments at our on-campus Mercy Clinic (click this link or call 636-445-3820) for $35 or with their primary care physician. Team tryouts start Aug. 7. Find more information on your school’s athletics website: Holt, Liberty, North Point, and Timberland.
⬜ Does your student take over-the-counter or prescription medication? If so, get updated medication orders from their physician that include the name of the student, name of drug, dosage, frequency of administration, route of administration, and the prescriber's name. Drop both the physician orders and medication off at your child’s school for the nurse prior to the start of school.
⬜ Check updated meal prices and fee balances and add funds to your child(ren)’s meal account in the SIS K12 Portal.
Need assistance? Applications for free & reduced-price meals are available here or at any school office. In an effort to assist families as we transition back to paid meals, the USDA has increased the income guidelines used to determine eligibility. Click here to see the income guidelines. ⬜ Bookmark the 2023-2024 Student Academic Calendar. Note that the school year may extend past May 31 if the District experiences more than six snow days. There may also be flexibility in the calendar that allows us to move up the last day of school if we do not use all of our built-in snow days while still meeting the state requirements for instructional time. Any changes to the academic calendar throughout the year will be communicated with families.
⬜ Note other important back-to-school dates like LINK Crew for high school students, WEB Orientation, Walk-About Day, Kindergarten Orientation, and open houses.
⬜ Look for communication from individual high schools or check their websites for important information. This includes parking permits, locker requests, yearbooks, senior photos, and more.
⬜ Consider joining the PTO or Parent Club organization for your child’s school.
⬜ The District offers an optional $20/year insurance program for student Chromebooks (grades 6-12). Purchase Chromebook insurance online by selecting your student’s school!
⬜ Familiarize yourself with the code of conduct and dress code. Updates have been made to the Code of Conduct, including the electronics and cell phone expectations. District Administration also recently developed clarification to the District's current dress code policy.
⬜ Reviewing your child’s MAP scores. The District has received 2022-2023 MAP and EOC scores. Students who took MAP or EOC last year will receive their Individual Score Reports this fall. More information regarding MAP reports can be found in the Missouri Department of Education’s Guide to Interpreting Results.
