Hawk Squawk February 2021
A Newsletter from Hiteon's Parent Teacher Club (PTC)
Presidents' Message
Hello Hiteon Families!
Spring is on the way and we have lots of exciting things in the works for the rest of our school year. See below for information on Science Fair on March 18, virtual Bingo Night on April 9, and our virtual Fun Run coming in May.
As our teachers are preparing to head back to the classroom, we are so happy to announce that the Hiteon PTC was able to help with funding for sneeze guards, individual bins for classroom supplies and 4 brand new Apple TV set ups for classrooms. We know that planning for return is tumultuous and we are thrilled to have been able to aid in the process.
That being said, our PTC does need to replenish our coffers so that we will be able to offer aid for teachers and hopefully some of our more traditional events for students next year. As you know, we were unable to have our annual Fun Run last year. As our biggest fundraiser each year, that loss left a huge hole in our budget. We are in the beginning stages of planning for a virtual fundraising event this year, and would love some help from the community. See below for more details on our current needs and meeting time.
And finally, we are looking for some new board members to help us as we transition back to school next year. Many of our current board members’ terms are coming to an end. To keep our awesome organization going we need to have some new members fill in our team. See below for info and reach out to any of us with questions. We are available any time at our PTC email addresses.
We hope to see you at the next Hiteon PTC General Meeting on Wednesday, March 17 at 7 p.m.
Warmest wishes,
Kim Rivers and Kristin Glover
Co-Presidents, Hiteon PTC

Hiteon PTC Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Thank you to all who participated in the Hiteon Diversity and Inclusion survey. Over 70 respondents offered their thoughts and ideas with us, including some ways we can share our cultural backgrounds with each other, "value others differences", "make everyone feel welcome" and "make sure all people are heard and accepted". This is certainly our biggest goal, and we can't wait to get started!
Are you interested in having your family featured in an upcoming Newsletter? We will choose 3-5 pictures from family celebrations each month. Please send one picture and caption it with a short description to diversityandinclusion@hiteonptc.org.

2021 Fun Run Planning Committee
Our annual Fun Run is happening virtually in May 2021 and we need a dedicated planning committee to pull it off. This is our primary fundraiser of the year, raising thousands of dollars to help support teachers and programs through the Hiteon PTC.
Within the committee we are still looking for people to fill the following roles:
- Prize Coordinator: Works with planning committee to collect donations and decide on prizes to be purchased. Purchases prizes and coordinates prize distribution.
- T-shirt Coordinator: Works with printing company to create t-shirts and coordinate distribution to students.
- Corporate Sponsor Liaison: Most of our sponsors are in place thanks to last year's committee. This person will track social media recognition and coordinate logos for t-shirts and thank you banner.
