Week 2, Term 3 Newsletter
Tēnā koutou katoa! Greetings everyone!
Kia orāna kōtou kātoatoa! This week is Cook Islands Language Week - Epetoma o te reo Māori Kūki 'Āirani! In honour of our many staff who have Kūki ‘Ārani whakapapa, and also of some of the whānau at our kura, we thought it would be important to celebrate the language and culture significant to their heritage. Staff and students have been encouraged to learn the language, dance with Mrs Dallas and enjoyed some lovely kaikais prepared by Matua Pops and his team. We love celebrating, and we are grateful for this opportunity. Meitaki ma’ata!
Our Parent Teacher Interviews were held yesterday - and what a beautiful day it was with the sun shining! There is such a lovely peace about our kura - the presence of God is among us. The feedback from staff and parents of the interviews have been positive. The purpose of the interviews is to strengthen the partnership between home and school - and this is certainly being achieved.
As a school leader, I am very proud of the incredible dedication our staff shows to our students and their whānau. As a parent and whānau, I am very grateful for the genuine interest and care shown to my children, niece and nephew. Our school values of faith, excellence and whanaungatanga are well and truly lived and walked out in our kura! It is an honour to serve in God’s kura - Kaitaia Abundant Life School.
Ka nui te mihi ki a koutou katoa mo ō mahi! Thank you all very much for your work!
Blessings,
Mrs. Tina Takimoana
Acting Principal

Meet the Team - Mrs Annelize Grielsel - Secondary English Teacher
Kia Ora
My name is Annelize Griesel and I emigrated to Kaitaia with my husband and two sons in March 2020. We come from the East Rand in South Africa, a place rich in minerals, people and cities, but very far from the ocean.
Kaitaia is our idea of paradise and we are still in awe of the history and beauty of our new home. I have wanted to teach at Abundant Life since before we left, so I am so happy to be part of this precious new family.
Our favourite things to do are taking short road trips since there are new gems around every corner in our new home, and spending hours on the beach- walking and swimming (or rather gently bobbing in the waves!)
Besides the people and the beauty, the best thing about New Zealand is Whittaker’s chocolate, for I firmly believe the following words of wisdom: “If chocolate is the answer, the question is irrelevant!”
On a more serious note, I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home and gave my heart to the Lord at the age of ten. He has been our rock through many trials and tribulations and when He called us to New Zealand, it was easy to answer His call. The words we truly live by are:
” The winds of Grace blow freely, all we need to do is set our sails!”
