A Note From Mrs Wilker

Dear Greyhound Families,

We hope this note finds you and your family well. We are busy planning for our new remote instruction and learning experiences. Included in this Gazette are links to fun educational activities that your family can enjoy together or independently.

On Monday, you will receive information from your child's teachers on how to access each class's remote instruction, videos, activities, and assignments. We will all be learning from this experience, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions along the way.

Additionally, you will continue to receive regular updates from the campus on what is happening here and throughout our district.

Join Dr. Curtis Null, Superintendent, and Mrs. Denise Cipolla, Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling, on Facebook Live for Update #2 on Thursday, March 19 at 6:00 PM. The video will be recorded and posted to YouTube following the chat.

Links To Information On COVID-19

The CISD Website has a page dedicated specifically to COVID-19. It contains a lot of good information.

One of the most useful things on the site is a Brain Pop that explains the virus to children.

The Nurse Is In

Our school nurse, Mrs. Rambaud, RN, will be available to help answer questions Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please contact her by phone at (936)709-5013 or email her at If she is unable to take your call, please leave a message and she will call you back.

Mrs. Rambaud wants everyone to stay healthy, happy and safe. Wash those hands!

Counselor's Corner

You can now access the "Counselor's Corner" through Mrs. Tabor's canvas course. The course is located in each student's Canvas Dashboard, or you can follow this link to retrieve it.

On the home page of the "Counselor's Corner", you will find a button labeled "Counselor Request Form". Please complete this document if you or your Galatas student need to visit with Mrs. Tabor while we are implementing distance learning. We can conference through virtual "facetime", email, or via telephone.

Beginning on Monday, you can also visit the Counselor's Corner to view guidance lessons specialized by grade level. A new lesson will be available each week!

Technology Survey

Thank you for completing the technology survey that was sent out earlier this week. If you responded that you did not have access to a computer or an iPad for remote learning, please contact your child's teacher so that we can make alternative arrangements with you.


These are just a few activities for your child to complete independently or with you. Next Monday, you will receive more detailed lesson plans from your child's teacher.

Additionally, you will be receiving an email from Conroe ISD's Curriculum Department with a link to additional resources. Every Galatas student also has access to Education Galaxy. You child should be familiar with how to access their account


Big picture

First and Second Grade


Read independently or with a parent for 20 minutes each day. Answer the questions: Where and when did the story take place? Who were the characters in the story? What was the story about?


Write and illustrate a short story about your favorite topic.


Practice using your math strategies to add and subtract numbers up to 20. Use your strategies: counting on your fingers, use tally marks, draw a picture, use a number line, use counters or a number grid.


Go outside and draw a picture of any animal you can see. Then write the characteristics of that animal next to your picture.

Third and Fourth Grade

Read independently for 20 minutes each day. Write a paragraph or two about your favorite character in the book.


Practice your favorite type of writing for 20 minutes.


Watch the video on three dimensional figures and complete the activity


View the Power Point. Go on a walk and then describe the physical characteristics of the environment that you see. Share your observations with a parent or a sibling.
