Hooch Community,
Please support the Will to Live Foundation which is a vital part of our community.
The Will To Live Foundation, a Johns Creek based 501(c)(3) non-profit is beginning it’s 13th year! John and Susie Trautwein with the help of the kids at Northview High School, founded the foundation in October of 2010 after Will Trautwein, a 15 year old freshman at Northview, lost his life to depression and suicide. The foundation’s mission has always been to raise the awareness of teen suicide in our communities. John Trautwein has given motivational speeches throughout our school system, about the power of Life Teammates in our lives to help create a culture where it is “Okay to not be Okay” and talk about it – with a goal of erasing the stigma of mental illness.
The Where There’s A Will There’s a Way 5K - a fun run for hope is the signature event of the foundation, and it’s 13th running will be held this coming February 4th here in Johns Creek at River Trail Middle School / Shakerag park (as it has in the past). The money raised by this event has not only funded the implementation of the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program in every public school in Fulton and Cobb county, but in high schools all over the country. Here is the webpage for the event if you need more information. https://will-to-live.org/willsway5k23/

Principal
Happy New Year! January is a month for new beginnings. This is a good time to review our attendance theme and recommit to our mission of…
Showing up Matters for R.E.A.L.
Showing up to school daily provides the opportunity to:
● Build Routines
● Increase Engagement
● Provide Access to resources
● Support Learning
Start the year off with resolutions of arriving to school on time daily, engaging with one new friend, speaking with a teacher before having a failing grade, contributing to class discussions, and parents begin logging into Infinite Campus to check attendance and grades. This action-oriented start to the second semester will garner great success by May. If you have any questions or need support for this new journey, feel free to reach out to our School Social Worker, Mrs. McClung at mcclunga1@fultonschools.org or 470-254-7557.

9th/10th Grade Information Presentation:
Thank you to the parents who attended the 9th/10th presentation last night. A link to the Powerpoint and video recording will be posted to the counseling website on Monday, January 30th for those who were unable to attend.
Senior Midyear Reports/Transcripts:
Seniors who are in need of mid-year grades for any college must submit a Midyear transcript request in Naviance, and we will are processing these requests as they come in. Do not worry if your college has an earlier date - high schools across the country finish their first term at different times, and colleges expect that.

- Mid February – Counselors will meet individually with all 9th-11th graders through their English classes to review their course recommendations and elective selections for the 2023-2024 school year.
