Culture Surveys and Global Awareness

This week each classroom is collecting Culture Survey sheets from each family at Edgewood. Our hope is to give every child the opportunity to share their own family heritage and traditions, and to raise awareness about our diversity in this caring school community.

A follow-up letter is coming home today, with ideas of items that students can bring from home to share with their classmates. Thank you so much for helping us to learn more about one another!

In 2015, we will continue to build knowledge and experiences by exploring new cultures and countries throughout the world. Global awareness is an important 21st Century Skill, and we are looking forward to the new learning that will occur throughout the 3rd quarter at Edgewood.

Stay tuned for pictures and updates about the learning in every classroom as we prepare for a culminating school-wide cultural event in April!

The Nutcracker Performed by the Bolshoi Ballet in our own "Backyard"

If you are looking for a way to enjoy The Nutcracker, without having to drive into the city, you can travel a short distance to the Cinemark Seven Bridges Movie Theater to see the Bolshoi Ballet perform this wonderful Holiday story...live! The performance is filmed in Moscow, at the Bolshoi Theatre, and then broadcast worldwide to neighborhood movie theaters.

This Bolshoi Ballet Nutcracker performance will be on Sunday, December 21st, at 11:55 A.M., at the Cinemark Seven Bridges.

Thank you for your time in reading this Edgewood Update...

As we near the end of 2014, I am reflecting on all that I have experienced this year with our students, staff and you, and am so grateful to be the Principal of our school. My positive feelings and optimism for the new year come from the wonderful connections that we have between home and school at Edgewood. I thank you for sharing your children with us, and helping to make sure that their learning, progress and care are the main focuses of our school!

I wish you all a peaceful and joy-filled Holiday season!

With Care and Educationally Yours,

Mrs. Tanya Hughes
