Physical Therapy Weekly Update
May 25th - May 29th
Hello to all,
Happy Memorial Day and happy last week of school! This has been a unique situation and a challenge for us all, as we attempt to reach the needs of all of our students during this time. We both appreciate our students, our families, and everyone's cooperation and willingness to reach out to us to meet the needs of everyone. We hope that everyone has a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing all of you in the fall!
We hope that you are finding our information useful and that you are able to work in some gross motor practice each week. Feel free to go back and look at ideas that we have sent in previous weeks if there is a favorite. As always, don't attempt anything that is not appropriate, or unsafe, and if you have a specific question, please reach out. We can offer additional resources or modification ideas. Just a quick reminder that we are offering Zoom "office hours" a few times a week if you have questions or just want to chat briefly. Refer to the end of this newsletter to see our Zoom links.
As always, if you have specific questions regarding your child, or your program, contact us at any time by email or join our office hours. We are here for you!
Amanda Peters, PT apeters@caiu.org and Sue Drda, PT sdrda@caiu.org.
Take care and be well,
Ms. Amanda and Ms. Sue

Gross Motor Skill of the Week: Jumping and Hopping
Single Leg Hopping
Jumping Up
If this is difficult, try jumping on a bouncy surface, such as a trampoline, or practice bouncing up and down on the squishy surface.
Jumping Down
Start on a smaller surface, and work up to a higher surface as you are more successful. You can use two or hand support to help. Encourage bending of both knees, and jumping up and landing with both feet at the same time.
You can place a target on the floor to jump to.
