EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Ms. Allison Mathews, a Specialized Educational Support Professional (SESP) at the EWS. Ms. Mathews has been a vital part of the EWS community since she joined the district in 2014. After a brief stint at the MES in 2020, Ms. Mathews rejoined the EWS team and continued with her role in the Multi-Aged Learning Center (MALC).
Ms. Mathews is a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated educator who loves working with her students. She is willing to take on any role that will help her students continue to make progress and understands the importance of teamwork and collaboration with her educational partners. She always exudes positivity and her enthusiasm is infectious. Ms. Mathews is a vital part of the EWS learning environment and we congratulate her on being named Educator of the Week. #bettertogether.

MPSD LOOKS TO JOIN THE SOUTH SHORE REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHINAL HIGH SCHOOL
The current member districts in the SSRVTHS are Abington, Cohasset, Hanover, Hanson, Norwell, Rockland, Scituate & Whitman. Beyond a positive vote at the Marshfield ATM, the SSRVTHS School Committee also has to vote in favor of Marshfield joining and six of the eight member districts would also have to vote in favor of Marshfield joining.
We have seen a large number of Marshfield students looking to join SSRVTHS because of the number of vocational programs they offer. Most public high schools are unable to provide these types of programs but we are hopeful that with membership in the SSRVTHS, we will be able to provide an opportunity for our students to learn in an environment that better meets their interests.
Below is a brief update from Marshfield Community Media on the SC vote this week. There will be additional information coming forward in advance of the ATM as well.

MHS PROMOTES COMMUNITY SERVICE
The proposal, supported unanimously by the School Committee, will require graduating seniors, staring with the class of 2027, to complete 20 hours of community service over their four years at MHS.
The proposal was created by a variety of MHS educators and related service providers and was passed unanimously by the MHS School Council. Principal Keuther's memo to the SC noted that "As part of the Vision of the Graduate, Marshfield High School has determined that every graduate will serve the community and contribute to society."
This new requirement will not impact the current class of 2023, but current freshmen, sophomores and juniors will have to meet certain levels of community service hours as well. The current junior class (2024) will need to complete five hours of community service to graduate. The current sophomores (2025) will need to complete 10 and the current freshmen (2026) will need to complete 15 hours to be able to graduate.
