Home of the Wolverines - Awakening Greatness
February 12, 2024- February 10, 2024
Dear Watkins Mill HS Community,
Happy Super Bowl Sunday. I can't believe we are already half way through February. This past week was great. The eleventh graders were able to connect to their administrator, students participated in Black History Month events and our athletes did well in the competitions.
Please take time to read through the attachments in the email and the information in the newsletter. There are many community events coming up and opportunities . Also, in the newsletter there are guidelines for students earning SSL hours and how to earn the Certificate of Meritorious Service (purple tassel). For seniors filling out their FAFSA, please read the information provided by our College and Career Center.
One last reminder, our Family Food Market will be this Saturday the 17th from 9am-12pm.
Thank you for all you do for our students and community.

Updates
Hello! Here are the update from ACES:
Seniors -- if you or your parents need help completing the FAFSA or MSFAA (now called MHEC One-App), please email Ms. Moxley for assistance! The priority deadline to complete these forms is March 1, 2024. Also, ACES seniors who are planning to attend Montgomery College, or if MC is a possible option (even if you've applied elsewhere), should plan to attend the field trip to MC on March 11, 2024. See the attached flier for more information. Permission slips are due by February 23.
Juniors - ACES will be hosting a Parent Night for Junior students and their families on February 22 at 6:30pm on Zoom. We will focus on key topics including college timelines, financial aid, and important deadlines to prepare students for a smooth transition into their senior year and beyond. The link to register can be found on the ACES Google Classroom page or you can reach out to Ms. Moxley.
College Tracks Updates
CollegeTracks is now recruiting students to join their Class of 2025. If you plan to graduate in 2025 and plan on attending college or trade school, CollegeTracks is here to help you. We assist students through the entire college application process including researching colleges and careers, preparing for college entrance exams, creating college lists, submitting college and financial aid applications, reviewing financial aid awards to help determine which college would be the best financial fit for you, and more. We will be beginning our programming for the Class of 2025 in March or April so we encourage you to sign up now to secure your spot. Once you register with CollegeTracks, you will need to complete your New Student Meeting which is a conversation we have with students to learn more about you and your academic goals so we know how to best support you through this process. CollegeTracks does not have requirements to join but we have noticed that students who come from low-income families or are the first in their family to attend a US college usually get the most out of our services. Students who are in ACES are NOT eligible to join CollegeTracks. Come see us in the Media Center if you are interested in joining. If you have already joined, make sure that you schedule your New Student Meeting ASAP so you are ready to go when workshops begin.
Again, CollegeTracks is located in the Media Center and we are in the building Monday - Thursday from 9am - 5pm.
