Principal's Message
Parents and Community Stakeholders,
We had an eventful February as we celebrated our 100th day of school and engaged in activities and celebrations revolving around Black History Month. Multiple grade levels traveled on Blue Sky and Math and Science Innovation Center Field Trips! We also began run club that is sponsored by our Wellness coordinator and supported by multiple parents of students who attend Chimborazo. Thank you to those who support this activity, in addition to other enrichment opportunities such as Chess club, 24 club, and the step team as we continue to provide enrichment opportunities for our students to enhance their educational experience.
We will be off and running as March begins with Read Across America Week. We will celebrate Read Across America Week the first whole week in March beginning on the 4th for our spirit week. We want to ensure our students and staff are involved in promoting literacy at home and in school! We will continue to encourage our students' love of literacy throughout the month with guest readers coming in, some “bracketology” to coincide with March Madness, the culmination of our Go Nuts for Reading challenge, and our "One School One Book" kick-off!
Academically, interims go out the second Friday of March. Conferences take place the second week in March for those parents of students that are notified by the teachers to ensure we close the year out strong and have done our best to provide the needed skills for our students to transition into their next grade level smoothly. Teachers will be reaching out to those parents to schedule these, however, if they have not, feel free to contact your child's teacher if you are unsure if you need to meet. If you are unable to physically come to the school, please schedule a phone conference with them. These conferences are imperative in order to discuss your student's progress, celebrate their accomplishments, and come up with a plan to help them be successful.
I look forward to closing out the last one and a half quarters of the school year with continued momentum as we get closer to June. Thank you for your cooperation and thank you for your valued support and contributions to making Chimborazo a world-class school!
Respectfully,
David T. Peck

Attendance matters
Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
Box Tops
Look for the 10¢ Box Tops coupon on hundreds of your favorite products -- Cheerios, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Ziploc, Kleenex, Hefty, and many more.
Cut out the coupons and ask your child to give them to their teacher. The more coupons you send in, the more money our school receives!
