Co-Curricular Corner - Mr. Mclaughlin/P.E.
On 2/3/16 we had our annual Jump Rope For Heart event. It was a great success and our 2nd and 3rd graders raised over $2,000 for the American Heart Association! Students also learned the three most important things they can do to live a heart healthy life eat healthy foods, exercise everyday, and stay away from bad habits like smoking.
Our next fitness week will be next week, and 3rd-5th grade will be tested on sit-ups. We will be testing the shuttle run test also to wrap up all testing before our gymnastics week with Stars and Stripes Gymnastics, so I can go over Leadership Notebooks with all 3rd-5th grade students at this time!
Connecting With The Habits ~ “Healthy Habits” are coming to Holly Elementary.
Our Parent/Teacher Lighthouse Committee has organized a parent/child group that will learn all about healthy eating and exercise. This event will be led by Parent Lighthouse Leader, Mrs. Stacey Sheahan and assisted by her 4th grade daughter, Sydney Sheahan. “Healthy Habits” will be every Thursday from 3:45-4:45, in the cafeteria.
Families will love learning together how to cook and prepare yummy healthy meals. Everyone will also learn fun and easy ways to be active in order to stay healthy. Every week there will be a crockpot and dessert recipe to take home and enjoy with the whole family. Please join us on Thursdays, at Holly Elementary, in the cafeteria.
