PLC with John Hattie: A few lucky teachers attended PLC training with educational guru John Hattie. He gave a fresh perspective of the PLC process; he intertwined PLC background and processes with research-based instructional practices, prepping educators with tools and knowledge to apply within their classroom. Jon G, Michelle M and Becky attended the training. A special thank you to Jon for enduring quite the travel challenges. Thanks Jon and thanks all!
Youth Mental Health First Aid: Staff from all three sites joined a local training on how to provide initial help to young people experiencing mental health problems. Taniia, Jon B, Davia, and myself attended.
Discovery Ed: Science teachers have transitioned to new standards and new curriculum. This year they will have yet another awesome addition - while they're continuing Discovery Ed for their (online) curriculum, they are also getting print materials for both students and teachers. Training for the print materials takes place the last week of July. We're pretty excited Discovery added a hard copy for their curriculum! Amanda, Jon G, Michelle and myself will be attending.

But for now...due to numbers, sites, and non-refundable sites etc., Nic needs a RSVP as soon as you're able. Nic can be contacted at nkons@natomasunified.org. Please share if you're interested in (a) Fri and Sat nights, (b) just one night and which or (c) nothing at all. This will continue to be a staff only weekend to get that extra rich staff bond going on. Arrrgh.
