What's New
National College Decision Day is May 1st, so we are going to be spending a lot of time helping students get settled! That said, many students don't have May 1 deadlines and need more time to complete the enrollment processes. You'll see a lot of I Decided... Now What? sessions on the calendar, but you'll also see a lot of financial aid / verification sessions this week, too! This is the first big week for settling our students and it will continue throughout the month of May.
Due to the overwhelming response in previous weeks, ASP is hosting yet another Alumni Panel with new students sharing their stories. ASP is also operating a number of sessions for our Undocumented and DACA students. Last week we hosted a UNT Dallas session specifically for our Undocumented/DACA Students, which was led by current students. The questions and concerns they have are very sensitive, and we are finding that they want their own space and community to work through these issues. These sessions are not published. Individual advisors (Mr. Jaramillo) reach out directly to students to protect their privacy and ensure their safety.
In addition to campus office hours and individual family/student appointments, here are the upcoming sessions this week. Everything, including the sign up form, is available on our events page.
- Wednesday, April 29 - FAFSA & Financial Aid Verification (2:00-4:00pm)
- Wednesday, April 29 - Early Decisions and even Earlier Celebrations! (4:00-6:00pm)
- Wednesday, April 29 - I Decided on a College... Now What?? (4:00-6:00pm)
- Thursday, April 30 - FAFSA & Financial Aid Verification (2:00-3:00pm)
- Thursday, April 30 - I Decided on a College... Now What?? (3:00-5:00pm)
- Friday, May 1 - Award Letter Comparison and Review (12:00-2:00pm)
Next week will include more sessions on helping students through the enrollment process, but we will also start including some junior programming to get our underclassmen excited!
With gratitude,
