A Message to Our Families
Dear Pearcy Families,
I would like to take the opportunity to commend our faculty, staff, and students. Yesterday our city experienced a very scary situation. While our school was not the site of the shooting, we were one of the schools close enough to be placed in lockout while the suspect was at large. When this emergency occurred, our teachers and staff sprang into action to make sure every student and staff member was safe. Everyone did exactly what was necessary, and I am very proud of how the situation was handled. Although anxieties were high, we were able to remain calm and focused on ensuring the safety of all. We were in constant communication with the district, administration, and families. Many parents expressed compassion for our staff at dismissal yesterday, and we are grateful to you for checking on us. Your children are precious, and we are committed to always doing our best for them. Thank you for supporting us and trusting us with your children.
Dr. Cavazos also shared out some very helpful tips provided by our Guidance and Counseling Department to help you navigate this type of emergency with your children.
- Listen to your child’s fears and concerns.
- Act calm. Avoid discussing your anxieties with your children or when they are around. Be aware of the tone of your voice, as children quickly pick up on anxiety.
- Share only as much factual information as they are developmentally able to handle.
- Limit exposure to television and the news. Children may perceive every replay as a new event.
- Keep family routines as normal as possible to help students feel safe at home.
- Assure your children that teachers and school leaders will continue to do everything possible to keep them safe at school.
- Any changes in your child’s behavior that seem extreme can be brought to the attention of the school counselor or a professional of your choosing who can assist your child.
Please keep the families and staff in the Mansfield ISD in your hearts. Thank you for your support.
Have a wonderful 4 day weekend, and we will see you back on Tuesday!
Thank you,

House Bill 4545 Information
AISD leadership has made the decision to administer the Texas Education Agency (TEA) optional Math and/Reading BOY assessments to any student in AISD who was eligible to take a Math and/or Reading STAAR, but for whatever reason did not participate. The purpose of this assessment is to allow students the opportunity to demonstrate a sufficient level of mastery of the curriculum and provide educators with the data they need to develop appropriate instructional plans to address gaps in student learning. This assessment is built using released STAAR test questions that are designed to diagnose understanding of the TEKS from the previous school year, and is unrelated to the current district curriculum assessments taking place this week.
This assessment will support campuses in targeting Accelerated Instruction (AI) for those who need it and identify those who are not in need of AI, but did not test in the spring.
Pearcy will administer the BOY assessments next week on Monday (math) and Tuesday (reading).
Any student who was eligible to take a Math and/or Reading STAAR, but for whatever reason did not participate and who does not take the BOY assessment next week will be required to receive HB 4545 required 30 hours of Accelerated Instruction per subject missed.

Masks
Approximately 85% of our students and staff have chosen to wear masks while at school. If your child wears a mask, please provide one for them. We do have some extras on campus, however our supply is dwindling. We are happy to provide one if theirs is lost, broken, or if they forgot it at home on from time to time. Thank you!
Contact Tracing & COVID Testing
If your child develops symptoms, keep him/her home and contact your healthcare provider for testing.
If you do not have a healthcare provider, email rapidtest@aisd.net and someone will contact you to schedule a rapid test appointment.
If you would prefer a PCR test find a COVID testing location in Tarrant County or call 817-248-6299.
If you have questions about COVID-19, please call the COVID-19 hotline at 817-248-6299.
