Hello Parents and Students!
Hope you enjoyed a great weekend!!
Here are just a few things as well as reminder about our Hour of Code and Genius Hour fun this week!
- Every Friday students will now have a white envelope with their weekly work (Wednesday envelope but will now be our Friday envelope). Please look through work with your student and keep work at home. Assessments or anything hole punched stapled needs to be filed in binder.
- We are not doing goal sheets right now...I may come back to this when we get back in January.
- Please remember the Homework Choice Options are definitely encouraged and they can earn extra credit Dixon dollars but not required. I want students to focus on the individual needs we discussed at parent conferences.
- Next Friday: Spelling and Vocabulary (Lessons 1 and 2) test. I meant to give spelling test today but completely forgot!! Therefore, we WILL take a spelling test on their individual words so students should be studying their lists for homework. Vocabulary words are in their binders with their spelling word lists.
- NEEDED: 5-10 Family pictures! I know I requested before, but if you haven't given your child digital pictures yet, please do so by this Wednesday. You can even snap a picture on the wall and email them to me! We are going to continue our project and make it into a gift for you :) Thank you!!
Coding with Kinderbuddies
We had so much fun having our kinder buddies learn how to code with us on Friday!
Coding with Kinder buddies
It was definitely great practice for Leader in Me...my 3rd graders had to learn how to LEAD and teach their buddy (rather than do it on their own) ;)

New ELA Native American Unit
We are diving into our new Social Studies and ELA Thematic Unit: California Native Americans. This will be a very exciting unit! Click here for resources and more!
Social Studies Standard:
3.2/3.3: Students will describe the American Indian Nations in their local region and draw from historical and community resources to describe how each period left its mark on the area.
Introducing Genius Hour!!
I am VERY excited to begin an 8 week Genius Hour Project during our STEM Fridays. This works perfectly during this block of innovation. Please make sure to watch this quick intro video so you see the "what" and the "why" of students exploring their own passions and igniting curiosity through Genius Hour.
