Canine Kitchen Plus Service Club Update
Canine Kitchen Plus has had a productive Fall. So far, we've held 4 meetings. We've made about 10 dozen treats, 15 fleece blankets, 50 cat toys to be donated to the Bucks County SPCA. We've also collected donations of items on the SPCA's wish list. This month we are collecting Purina One dry dog food. In January, we will be collecting rawhide treats for dogs. Donations can be made at club meetings or in guidance throughout the month. Students who serve in the club can earn service hours. Students do not need a special talent to attend a meeting. Meetings are the first and second Wednesday of the month from 2:30-3:30 in the FCS room. SIGN-UPS for each club date is necessary! Participation is limited to the first 25 students.
On another note, we are very appreciative of the continued support from the Doylestown Veterinary Hospital and Holiday House Pet Resort for recently donating nearly $500 in fleece to make blankets! If you are interested in more information about the club, please contact Mrs. Schmon in guidance or Mrs. Kramer.
Attendance Procedures
Just a reminder that if your student will be absent from school, please call the Attendance line at 267-893-2820 and leave a message with the student's last name, first name, homeroom teacher, and reason for the absence. Please do not leave a message to dismiss your student early - that requires a note for the student to bring to the front office with a dismissal time and a reason for leaving early. Also, please do not email a note to your student's 1st period teacher about leaving school early.
If your student is not feeling well, texting the parent is not the procedure we would like our students to follow. We have a school nurse available, and the student should be seen by the nurse, and the nurse will call home if needed.
Please be mindful with the winter weather of rain and/or snow. Students that are being driven to school, 1st period starts at 7:30 AM. The drop off line can be rather long. If your student is not in 1st period by 7:30, they will be tardy unexcused. Please allow yourself enough time to drop off your student. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Boy's Basketball Tryouts
Below is information for the upcoming boy's basketball tryout schedule. The dates and times are subject to change. The boys should listen to the announcements for any changes and check Mr. and Dr. Marttila's teacher website.
TRYOUT DATES AND TIMES
8th grade:
Wednesday, January 17th - 2:45-4:30 PM
Thursday, January 18th - 2:45-4:30 PM
Friday, January 19th - 2:45-4:30 PM (cuts)

Friday, January 19th - 4:30-6:00 PM (Cuts)
Cuts: There will be cuts on both the 8th grade and 7th grade teams this year. Due to the high volume of students coming out for the teams cuts will be necessary. Each team looks to keep between 10-12 players for the season.
Paperwork: All paperwork needs to be completed before the first TRYOUT. Players WILL NOT be able to participate in tryouts without all paperwork turned into the guidance office prior to the first tryout.
Two things needs to be completed and all information can be found on Lenape's Athletic Website:
1. Players need to register on Family ID that can be found on the Lenape Athletic web page click here
2. Players need to have a completed physical form. The physical must have a date of June 1, 2017 or after OR if players have played a sport in the fall, they need a recertification form with a parent signature - which is Section 7 of the PIAA physical form.
***All forms can be found on Lenape's Athletic webpage and on Dr. Marttila's website.***

FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
There are steps you can take in your daily life to help protect you from getting the flu.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with your hands. Germs spread this way.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- Practice good health habits. Get plenty of sleep and exercise, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat healthy food.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- If you do not have a tissue, cough into your elbow or the fabric of your clothing.
- If you are sick with flu-like illness, stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
BOX TOPS
YES, Lenape collects Box Tops! Our life skills class uses Box top activities to reinforce skill development. Lenape earns money for every label collected.
Please send your Box Tops to school labeled "Lenape Guidance" or drop them in the box in the lobby adjacent to the main office. Please don't worry about cutting the labels, tearing them off is fine.
