NEW CAR RIDER DISMISSAL PLAN- School Dismissal Manager
Hello Parents!
We have good news! For your convenience, Swansboro Elementary proudly announces that we will begin utilizing a new on-line dismissal management system called School Dismissal Manager (SDM). It is dependable, easy-to-use, and can be updated by parents and guardians from the convenience of their smart phones, tablets, and PCs.
Through the on-line dismissal management system, you can:
· Make transportation changes as late as 2 PM on the current day
· Add people to your child’s pick up list
· Report student absences and late arrivals
· Schedule early departures from school
· Schedule school based after-school activities (once they resume)
We will begin using SDM for dismissal the very first day of school, August 17th. All parents should have received an email directly from SDM. The email will be listed as Swansboro Elementary Parent Instructions & Details for SDM. This email will contain important instructions and your personal login credentials. Once you receive your credentials, please use them to log into the new system so that you can begin to familiarize yourself with it and set up your child’s default dismissal and routine.
As of Monday August 24th, all transportation changes will be accepted only through SDM, so it is imperative that you set up your child’s account asap. The sooner everyone can take care of this, the faster and less stressful our car dismissal will go😊
Please make sure that you assign your child a default transportation (this is what they will do most days) and then enter any exceptions (such as on Thursday, Aug 21 my child will be a car rider with Jane Smith). If anyone else is allowed to pick up your child, you will need to assign them as a View Only Parent. This will give them a PIN which tells us that you have given them permission to pick up your child. If someone comes to pick up your child and does not have a PIN, they will not be allowed to pick them up. Please follow the car dismissal procedures outlined in the diagram. It will be tricky the first week or so, but if everyone does their part, this will make for a safe and efficient dismissal. Thanks for your support and patience.
Cohort Assignments
Cohort B- face to face instruction on campus Thursday and Fridays only. Remote days on Wednesdays- live required TEAMS sessions in morning & optional live TEAMS sessions for enrichment classes in the afternoons. Remote days on Mondays & Tuesdays -independent work, no live sessions, access assignments whatever time works best for your family.
If students are sent to school on the wrong cohort day, parents will be notified for pick up. For everyone's safety, please make sure that your child comes to school only on their assigned days.
School Fees
Instructional Supply: $5.00
Art: $1.00
Supplemental Reader: $6.00
Technology Usage Assessment Fee (not insurance, rental fee): $25.00

* If you cannot afford these fees, you may request a fee waiver by emailing school administration (page.highsmith@onslow.k12.nc.us or elizabeth.wilsey@onslow.k12.nc.us). These will be reviewed by administration and you will be notified once approved.
A Note from Nurse Sammons
If your child is sent home from school for Covid-19 like symptons, they may not return to school until:
1. You bring a note from a doctor that states the student DOES NOT have Covid-19 and they have diagnosed them with a condition that explains the Covid-19 symptoms or they have a negative Covid-19 test AND,
2. They are fever free (without using fever reducing medications) for 24 hours
3. 14 days after last contact with Covid-19 positive person
4. If they are diagnosed with Covid-19, they may return to school when:
· At least 1 day (24 hours) have passed since recovery (no fever without fever reducing medicines) AND,
· Improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath) AND,
· At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
Student must be checked in by the office to return to school.
Important Dates 2020-2021
* Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, all extra curricular events will be modified to be virtual or may need to be canceled all together. Modifications to our calendar items will be made and changes noted in the weekly Smore. Thanks for being flexible.
