This week we continued our winter exploration by reading stories, playing games, and creating projects related to mittens, and especially the tale of The Mitten, by Jan Brett.
Our small groups included counting out buttons to go with mitten numbers...
...working on our figure drawing by making “mat man” drawings ...
... and measuring things in the classroom using mittens!
We acted out the Three Little Kittens (who lost their mittens) nursery rhyme, with everyone wearing mittens from our class collection :)
Miss Becky also led us in acting out The Mitten by Jan Brett, with Miss Lamirah and Miss Kelly also :)

Polar animal play was still a favorite :)
Birthday party play was popular this week!
And then our pretend play area turned into a mitten shop!
Some friends tried one more ice experiment - melting ice with salt and watching the cracks grow with food coloring drips.
Early in the week we had some chilly playground fun ...
... but then we moved on to more indoor fun!

The snow study is coming to an end! We have done all sorts of snow and ice exploration, learned about animals that live in cold places, and talked about what we wear to stay warm.
