Inspiring Excellence. Every Learner. Every Day.
A Note From the Principal: Fourth Quarter
*Mandatory masks: It is imperative that students BRING a mask every day AND keep it covering their nose and mouth during the day. We will meet with students and call families when this is an issue. Please talk to your child about the importance of keeping their mask on and covering their mouth and nose.
*Additional lunch period: Due to the number of students and doing the best we can at social distancing, we are adding a fifth lunch section to lower the number of students in each lunch period. We are adding additional seating in the cafeteria and in the learning stairs. Due the restrictions on how lunches have to be served, we do not have enough personnel to add in the third lunch line, so the wait in line may take a little longer.
*Morning time: We will continue our practice of having students report directly to first hour when they enter the building at 7:55. Students may continue to grab free breakfast and take it to their classrooms. By having students report directly to class verses wandering the hallways, it allows us to contact trace much easier when the need arises. Again, emphasizing this with your student will help us with this process.
*Sanitation: We will continue the sanitation process we have in place. Desks will be sanitized between each class period. That means students sometimes can't sit down at their immediately when they enter a room in order to allow the proper time needed for the cleaner to be effective. We have a process in place in the cafeteria as well that has worked for us.
*Quarantine: Student may still have to quarantine if they have been in close contact with a classmate who tests positive. While we understand this is an inconvenience, it is the practice we have to follow.
We are excited to have all students back in the building, but we will be as cautious as we can while understanding the sheer number of students in the building presents challenges. We appreciate your support and understanding as we navigate a full building in a pandemic!

Wednesdays: Distance Learning
If a student has been asked to come in and work with a teacher on our Wednesday Distance Learning Day, please drop them off at the main doors on 15th St NE. We have a security guard there between 8-11:30 a.m. to let them in the building. Just a reminder that prior arrangements must be made with a teacher in order for students to come in and catch up on work. You must bring your Chromebook, charger and a mask. REMINDER: We will NOT have students in the building on Wednesday, March 10 as we will have staff engaged in professional development that day.
