Students who are recognized will be honored with a certificate, have their names announced at an All School Meeting, will be showcased in the Glendale monthly newsletter and will get to enjoy a cinnamon roll breakfast with Mrs. Molitor & the other recipients during morning meeting.
Congratulations to all of the students that received this award for December! The next C.A.R.E.S. breakfast will be Wednesday, March 6th.

Junior Achievement BizTown
On February 22nd, the 5th grade students paused what they were doing and traveled to
Maplewood to run the city of Biztown. The Biztown experience is an engaging, hands on
capstone project for our students created by Junior Achievement Midwest. Students take on the roles of citizens working in a community and learn about advertising, commerce, nonprofit organizations and citizenship. The students take their roles very seriously and we observed a high level of professionalism for the entire group. Thanks to the parent volunteers and 5th grade teachers for leading this activity. The trip is funded in part by the PTC and has been an excellent capstone project for the Junior Achievement program that students take part in from kindergarten through fifth grade.

Parent Stakeholder Survey
Recently Dr. Teri Staloch reached out to you to inform you of our annual parent and student surveys we are conducting with the goal of helping us improve at the district and school levels.
The mission of Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools is to educate all learners to reach their full potential as contributing and productive members of our ever-changing global community. To achieve that mission, Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools is committed to evaluating its strengths and opportunities for improvement in a continuous improvement process.
Please help us achieve our mission by participating in our 2019 Parent Stakeholder Survey.
The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous and will be shared with school and district leadership. We will also post a summary of the results on our website. The survey will be available until March 8.
Thank you for taking the time to help us improve!

An email will then be sent to you with a link to schedule the conferences. Choose a time that works for you and your family. If you have more than one student, you will need to choose a conference time with each teacher.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office at 952-226-0200.
If you don't have access to a computer to register for conferences, please contact your child's teacher directly.
Spring Testing Schedule
Grades 3-5 students will be taking the MCA III math and reading test during the weeks of March 26th- May 3rd.
Grade 5 students will be taking the MCA science test during the week of May 6th - 10th.
*All MCA testing is online only.
Why statewide testing?
Minnesota values its educational system and the professionalism of its educators. Minnesota educators created the academic standards which are rigorous and prepare our students for career and college. The statewide assessments are how we as a state measure that curriculum and daily instruction in our schools are being aligned to the academics standards, ensuring all students are being provided an equitable education. Statewide assessment results are just one tool to monitor that we are providing our children with the education that will ensure a strong workforce and knowledgeable citizens (from the Minnesota Department of Education).
Please click below to read more information about statewide testing and access the parent/guardian opt out form. This form must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the main office.
Looking Ahead to 2019-20
Just a reminder to parents who wish to give further input into the classroom placement of
your child for next year, the forms are in the office and will be available during
conferences in April. Please remember that these forms need to be returned by Friday,
May 3rd.
PTC UPDATES
Our spring Carnival is coming up on March 23rd from 11am - 3pm. We’re looking for organized, highly motivated people to help us plan this AWESOME event! Some areas we need help in are: Silent Auction, Game Organization, Concessions, Advertisement and Ticket Sales. Do you see yourself helping in any of these areas?
Please email Angie Carrigan for more information at acarrigan4@yahoo.com.
Cold Weather Apparel
It appears that winter is not going anywhere anytime soon unfortunately!! Dressing your child with warm clothes, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots helps students have a fun time in cold, snowy weather. **Students will always go outdoors for recess unless the "feels like" temperature falls below -5 degrees or it is steadily raining. Please help to make sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess each day!
**IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO LABEL YOUR CHILD’S JACKET, MITTENS, HAT, SNOW PANTS, AND BOOTS TO HELP PREVENT THEM FROM GETTING LOST!!
SPAN News
SPAN is the Synergy/SAGE Parent Action Network. We are also known as the Prior Lake-Savage Chapter of the MN Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT). Our mission is to support and advocate for academically advanced students, their parents, and their educators.
We will be hosting two informal “coffee” meetings in March where anyone can stop by to talk with SPAN Board members who have “been there” about questions/concerns you have related to your child. The coffee meetings will take place on Th. March 14 from 9:30-11am and again from 6:30-8pm at the Caribou inside the Prior Lake Lunds.
If you have questions prior to the meetings or would like to be placed on our email list to receive notification about meetings/coffee chats, please email Apryl at span.priorlake@gmail.com. See all of our meeting dates on our website www.mcgt.net/priorlake .
Greetings from the Health Office!
The cold and flu season is still upon us. Please help us keep Glendale healthy by keeping your sick child home. If your child does become ill, please remember the following before sending them to school:
Screening At Glendale Elementary
Vision and Hearing Screening will be conducted on March 21st for all 1st and 4th graders. Please remind your child to bring their glasses on screening day.
If you would like to opt out of screening, please call or email your child's health office. We no longer do Scoliosis screening, so you might ask your pediatrician to do this during your child's wellness check-up.
