RACC Dual Enrollment Q&A ZOOM Sessions

RACC is excited to announce that they will be holding “lunchtime Zoom meetings” to answer questions about Dual Enrollment. The meetings will be held from 11-noon, Wednesdays, on the following dates: 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, and 10/6.

BCTC Applications and Open House

2022-2023 Application will be available starting October 15th.

The process will be the same as last year utilizing the portal for the student demographic portion and counselor/district questions. Portal applications will open on October 15th - Please do not apply before that date. Log onto https://berkscareer.com/apply-to-bctc/ to get started. *Make note that you are completing the correct application - 2022-23 Application.
Save the Dates for our Open Houses at the West Campus-scheduled for November 10th and at the East Campus is scheduled for November 11th both from 5:30 to 8:30pm.

Please contact your child's high school counselor for more information or if you need help with the process.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters Needed

We are looking for students (Grades 10-12) who want to become a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters program this year. More information is in the attachment. If you are interested in joining please see the attachment below and pick up an application packet in the Guidance office. There are limited spots in this program so please return your application by this Friday, September 24th if you are interested!

Career Path Alert

FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN FILM OR MEDIA:

Celebrity guest speaker J.W. Cortes will share his unique career path into acting and at the end of the presentation, students will have 15 minutes to ask questions. The event will be held on Friday, October 1, from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Reading Area Community College, Miller Center.

FOR SENIORS AND THEIR PARENTS:

After you have spoken to your teachers about writing a letter of recommendation and given them a copy of your Brag Sheet, please follow the directions below..

Log into Naviance: Username is your email address, your personal email. (You may be prompted to reset your password, make sure that you know your personal email address and can check this to receive the recovery password).

At the top of page, click on Colleges

Select ‘Letters of Recommendation’, under the Apply to College

Choose Letters of Recommendation

Choose ADD REQUEST

SELECT A TEACHER from the drop-down list

SELECT 1st BULLET “general request”

Include a personal note if you prefer or just say ‘thank you for agreeing to write a letter of recommendation for me’.

SUBMIT REQUEST

After School Tutoring

After School Tutoring is available every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the high school library from 2:50 to 3:50 with Mrs. Bauer. Students need to provide their own transportation but do not need to sign up.

September Cookie Sale

The PAW Squad will host the year's first Cookie Sale during lunches on Thursday, September 23rd and Friday, September 24th. Cookies are $2.00 each and proceeds help fund PAW Squad activities.

SAVE THE DATE

CLASS OF 2023 - Junior Parent Night will be held on Thursday, November 4th at 6:30 PM. Please save the date on your calendar.

PSAT Optional for 11th Graders

OCTOBER 1st - RACC DE registration deadline

OCTOBER 13th - 10th and 11th grade PSAT

OCTOBER 13th - 9th grade RACC/BCTC Tour - Permission Slips need to returned by September 30th - a blank permission form is attached below and can be downloaded if needed.

NOVEMBER 2nd - Registration Deadline for PLTW Dual Enrollment through RIT for a course completed in the 2020-21 school year

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week will be held the last week of October. Our goal is to focus on self-care and making positive choices throughout life. More information will follow about Theme Days and other activities for the week.
