Dear La Academia Community:
I am so very excited to welcome our new and returning students and families back to school virtually for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year! Although we missed seeing all of you in person for Meet the Teacher, we hope the opportunity to do so virtually was a great experience for all. As we embark on a beginning like no other we have experienced, our focus will continue to be to ensure that your students feel connected, that every one of your children will be challenged academically and receive a great educational experience.
As your child’s teacher explained, this remote beginning will be a different experience from how Distance Learning was conducted last Spring. Teachers have a refined set of guidelines for delivering instruction with unique ways to connect with you and their students. I am sure that their time spent in the virtual environment will be a positive experience from the get go and know that our outstanding staff will be here to support you every step of the way!
I want to end by saying thank you to ALL of our parents, faculty and staff who worked so hard to make the start of this school year a positive experience for this community. Their commitment to ensuring that La Academia remains a celebrated and successful school is awe-inspiring.
I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families once again in person soon. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your Executive Director. In the meantime, please call/send an email/text/join my coffees and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all of our children.
Warmest Regards
Mercedes Alonso
Executive Director
Hello La Academia Jaguars
WORRIED ABOUT SCREEN TIME?

We totally understand! All grades will be building in brain and movement breaks throughout our lessons. Especially with our youngest students in Kindergarten and First grade, teachers will be gauging the class to see if they need to shorten or adjust their live sessions. Our teachers will get creative whenever we can to get your child off the screen. We would highly suggest, at least during remote learning time, that screen time is limited to school-related tasks and lessons. We know our kiddos love their iPad games and apps, but it would be a great time to pull out the old board games and puzzles and find some new family activities so that screen time can be 'saved' for school!
What do I need to know for Remote Learning?
