01 July 2022 Newsletter
Rosehill College
From the Principal
Tēnā koutou katoa,
Thank you for your support during these times of high staff and student absence. All students are to be at school next week unless they are unwell. If your son or daughter is showing any symptoms of flu, colds or COVID. Please keep them at home.
I apologise for the issues with the Term 2 Reports. We believe that we have solved the subject attendance rates, which come directly from the period by period attendance entered by teachers in our Student Management System. The updated reports were emailed on Tuesday. If you have any queries about these reports, please email m.rangi@rosehillcollege.school.nz
We are reviewing the frequency with which we send the engagement reports home, following the incomplete engagement reports of recent weeks.
The log in information to access the parent portal was re-sent to parents and caregivers last week on 22 June. If you did not receive this notification, please email studentoffice@rosehillcollege.school.nz
We are keeping windows open a small amount to ventilate classrooms and this may reduce the temperature in the rooms slightly. Some students are using this as an excuse to wear incorrect uniform. If your child is unable to wear the correct uniform, please email the Head of House who can issue a uniform pass. If you have items of uniform that are in good condition but your son or daughter is no longer able to use, please consider donating them to the school so that we have some items available for use in emergencies.

Pānui Hakinakina (Sports Bulletin)
As we move into the final week of the term I want to thank all the players, coaches, managers and the many supporters who turn up week after week to represent Rosehill College. I often receive feedback about the levels of sportsmanship displayed by our teams.
Next week our girls rugby team will be playing the final at Massey Park on Thursday 7 July from 4.00pm. It would be great to see our supporters turn out to cheer our girls on. Boys rugby has a break starting July 9 but we will see all teams playing again at the start of next term.
We are still waiting for draws for most sports and these are being worked on by College Sport Auckland, but lots are dependent on the results of games which don’t take place until next week.
We also have Winter Tournament Week to look forward to next term. The costs associated with Tournament Week are being finalised and will start to appear on students accounts next week.

First XI Boys 2 v Aorere 1
The boys were on a high after back-to-back wins and were hoping to make it a three-peat when we faced Aorere College at home. Rosehill dominated possession and territory in the opening half, however, could not capitalise on the chances on offer. Aorere pulled one ahead after a corner was not cleared properly and a long-range shot was buried. The boys went to the sheds at halftime and came out firing, with Lachlan Grant taking advantage of a loose ball with a cracking shot that went into the bottom corner to make it one a piece. Bo Qian pounced on a lovely through ball and through a deflection, the ball managed to find its way to the back of the net. With time running out the team managed to hold off the Aorere attack to earn another win, taking them to the top of the table.
