Walk-A-Thon for Catholic Education
A big "Thank You!" to all who have turned in their Walk-a-Thon packets! It is not too late to return your packet if you haven't done so already. All sponsorship levels include a t-shirt for each K-8 student in the school, and for a $125 single donation, your family or business name will be featured on the back of the t-shirt.
Get ready to get moving: Recess lap walking starts Monday! During the weeks of 9/17 and 9/24, each student will be given a lap card at lunch recess. Students can choose to walk laps around the perimeter of the school parking lot. After each completed lap, they will earn a hole punch in their lap card. Individual and homeroom laps will be recorded. Students reaching the minimum number of required laps over the course of both weeks will receive a medal to wear on the day of the Walk-a-Thon:
40 Laps = Gold Medal
30 Laps = Silver Medal
20 Laps = Bronze Medal
Top walkers and homerooms will be recognized on the Walk-a-Thon Wall of Fame, and the homeroom with the most laps walked per student will receive the prestigious Golden Shoe Award.
Students who are planning on walking or running laps at recess are permitted to wear tennis shoes to school for these two weeks.

8th & 7th Grade Parent Lunch/Recess Volunteers
Thank you for volunteering! We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer for the month of September for 8th grade or October for 7th grade, each time slot being 11:00-1:00. This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade. Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 8 OR Grade 7

Parents & Guardians--HELP!!
We had no youth (Grades 3-8) come to train to serve in the church's ministry of altar server. Sadly, this has been a current trend that really concerns and worries me as a pastor. What can be done?
This once shy, lanky kid remembers being encouraged by my parents to embrace ministry in the church to grow "into myself." Without the gentle encouragement of my mom and grandmother, I would not have become the leader that this ministry started in me.
Below is the altar server training video - and I am willing to help train at a convenient time that is best for your child! So let me know if the after school sessions have become inconvenient and when it would be a great time to meet with you and your child. Do this ministry as a family - parents & children serving side by side - together - serving the LORD and our faith family!
Please feel free to contact me to let me know how we can encourage your involvement in this important ministry: jtlanesss@gmail.com The Body of Christ is not whole without your participation in it. Share your gifts and talents to enhance the Body of Christ and help our Catholic school grow in service to the community. Thank you!
- Tuesday, September 25, 2:35 - 3:30 p.m. in church (same times & place for each)
